So they offered Hamonic after he rescinded his trade request and wanted to stay? Interesting.

I just think there's a lot of over reacting and hyperbole on this board over this. I think the Hall situation is very similar to the Phaneuf situation, and if the Flames had received a young core piece (quality) for Phaneuf instead of the crap (quantity) they got, i'd be pretty happy.

Gotta take a couple steps back to take a step forward. Right, Edmonton?

Isn't being a fringe #1 at 23 a good thing? He'll likely get better.

I read it that they didn't offer Hamonic but that's who the Oilers wanted

This whole time, I've been trying to understand why Edmonton made this trade, and why everyone is saying that they got better because of it.

But I've just now realized that Adam Larsson is not Adam Henrique.

No that means they didn't offer to trade him. Someone else was instead for Hall, if there was a trade proposal (maybe Leddy?).

Caller calls in and says Hall wasn't good and baby Bob Stauffer hangs up on him because he didn't like that opinion, then calls the guy a clown.

Yes, it really is. Davidson really impressed me every time I watched him this year, and Klefbom's a good #2.

Maybe they don't have a workhorse #1 but they have a solid, competent defensive corps that will fit well with the likes of McDavid. Draisaitl, and Puljujarvi.

Hate to say it but Chiarelli knows what he's doing.

Still don't see the relevance. Because the Flames made a cruddy deal a decade ago we can't take joy in a cruddy deal the Oilers made today?

Honestly, I figured to get rid of a 6M salary they would have to add and take a bigger ticket back. This probably looks like a win from Edmonton's standpoint. They didn't have to add and save 3M.

I guess?

My favourite caller was about 5 minutes before Stamkos signed.

He was suggesting with the cap saved from Hall that Stamkos was now a legit target for the Oilers. The poor host tried to humour him a bit but he knew the guy was out to lunch.

In today's NHL you are not a top pairing guy on any team with zero offensive ability in your game.

Larsson and Kelfom, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Davidson is pretty much Adam Pardy. He better be cost effective.
