If in a few days it gets leaked that Taylor Hall quietly demanded a trade at the end of the year.

The Oilers had to make this move and I agree with those that there is an addition by subtraction thing here.
Also, it's not even remotely close to the worst trade in history, Flames have two that I say were way worse:
Phaneuf for scraps;
Gilmour for scraps.
At least the Oilers have a potential core piece in return.
Flames got nothing.

After pretty much every big trade, really.
The simple fact is, it has been known for months that the Oilers were considering moving one of those wonder kids. Whoever that team executive is, the failure rests on his own shoulders, as he should have been working the phones rather than waiting for someone to reach out to him.
And if that exec's attitude is typical, easy to see why Treliving is so successful - he reaches out.

In the meantime, Yakupov, who has been asking for a trade since forever gets no love!

Relevance?
The Oilers have also made worse trades. Look what they got for Pronger or Ryan Smyth.

Heard #isles offered MORE for Hall. Belief is EDM liked Larsson more, pulling trigger with NJ instead.

I've been saying for a long time that it would be a sad day when Taylor Hall was no longer an Oiler. Of course, I assumed they'd get something better in return than Larsson.
If this is the best return they could get for Hall, imagine what teams are offering for RNH, Eberle, and Yak?

Frees up cap space to bring in Wideman. Do it Edmonton! You need another RHD.

Davidson-Larsson-Klefbom is going to be a very good, very cost-effective top 3 D. People shouldn't sleep on the Oilers.

If that's the case then you have to really question Edmonton's scouting. Larsson is ok, he's a fringe number one at best. Hamonic is a far far better player.

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
As for Hall, #Isles didn't offer what EDM wanted, which was Hamonic. Plain and simple.

Klefbom has a lot to prove, I think he's getting over rated, Davidson is getting massively over rated.
Even with Larsson that blueline isn't great or very good, its at best middle of the NHL pack.

Middle of the pack is still an improvement.
