So true. 1 for 1 it looks horrible. But in the end, this actually makes Edmonton better if that makes sense.

How many trades can you say that about? Trade a good player for someone who is something less and clearly lose the trade, but it makes your team better?

Smart move by the Oilers, no one was going to give them a top pairing guy for Hall, so getting a young 2nd pairing guy is solid. Hall represented all that was bad about the Oilers, it was smart move to get rid of him.

He's a very good young d-man. Not dominant by any means, but he had an outstanding year last year.

Interesting to see how this turns out.. Hall was easily their biggest trade chip.

If nothing else, maybe it makes them slightly more desirable for a UFA like Demers to land with.

Many will find it laughable on here, but I think EDM will look back at this as a pivotal move in the right direction

I cannot state enough how happy I am that Brad Treliving is our GM and more often then not, it is the Flames who will come out on top of trades. I don't want to imagine a life having Oilers management or Don f'ing Sweeney leading the charge.
