A net-front, gritty, cycle game...sounds like a style fit and a defensively responsible veteran for a Tkachuk - Bennett - Chiasson line.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Frolik
Colborne - Backlund - Stajan
Tkachuk - Bennett - Chiasson
Bouma - Jooris - Ferland
Bollig

Seems like a good guy. Plus, you gotta have at least 1 francophone on the team. Slapshot told me this

If Matt Stajan is a top 6 player for us next season we may as well start the lottery watch now.

That is just going by what is currently on the roster or what was on the roster last season.
Agree that we still need a top 6 RW to really fix that roster. No real spot for Stajan IMO.
Personally would love something like
Gaudreau - Monahan - Kreider/Hayes
Colborne - Backlund - Frolik
Tkachuk - Bennett - Chiasson
Bouma - Jooris/Stajan - Ferland
Jooris/Stajan

So sick of comments like this. The third wheel on top 6 lines is very consistently a 3rd or 4th line role player across the board - on playoff teams. What do names like Conor Sheary, Richard Panik, Patrick Maroon, Bryan Rust, Valtteri Filppula, Michael Raffl, and Jori Lehtera exemplify? Players who ain't much better than Matt Stajan.
If Stajan plays top 6 on a line with Backlund and Frolik - and it works - then what exactly is the issue? You're not going to have a perfect top 6 or top 9 with six or nine top line players. You have your line drivers and your compliments. Scoring goals is more than just having two guys with perfect one-timers waiting on opposite circles for perfect feeds off of perfect rushes.

Strongly disagree. Stajan has really been misused in his time as a Flame. I still think he can be a 50 point winger.

I hope Tkachuk doesn't make the team. Not because he isn't good enough, but because I think a full year of developing more strength and his skating would be beneficial in the long run. Not to mention the benefits of developing his skills as the undisputed go to guy on London (without Marner or Dvorak) and most likely the go to guy on team USA without Matthews. We don't need Tkachuk right now, why rush him?
Gaudreau - Monahan - UFA (Backes)
Shinkaruk - Backlund - Frolik
Colborne - Bennett - Ferland
Bouma - Stajan - Chiasson
Jooris
Giordano - Brodie
Hamilton - Jokkipaka
Wideman - Wotherspoon
Nakladal
Elliot
Ortio
The following year, I think we see Jankowski push for a spot. Tkachuk and Poirier also have a good chance of making it.

As in the next player that's going to get us a 2nd and 3rd at the deadline? Sounds good to me!

This is a great move and I think in Calgary he will thrive.
Jooris is going to have a career year now that Hartley is no longer here....if he stays.
Both these guys have some jam in there game and Glen will use it properly I think.
Alex isn't afraid to drop the mitts and is an awesome teammate.

He's had 50 points once in his career. And more than 40 points twice. What makes you think he's being misused?

Fifty seems like a stretch but he hasn't stood a chance the last few years. Tough minutes with bollig
