Not a bad trade. I like it from a Flames standpoint. Clears out a bottom 6 d prospect, and gives a younger guy a chance at forward.

Wish we could have gotten Kerby Rychel over the weekend as well. Harrington is a little better than Sieloff, but not by much.

Seems like a swap of depth players. Probably an even trade in the end.

I nearly had a heart attack. I saw "Flames acquire Alex..." And thought we got Tanguay again.

We're punishing Sieloff for scoring that goal that ruined the tank.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
Fascinating comment from #Flames RW Alex Chiasson, on relying more on instincts to re-discover offensive touch ...

I like Patrick Seiloff a lot nd hoping he would make it in the NHL soon. I like this trade though. #1 because Chiasson is a god hockey player who is willing to go in front of the net. Not sure why he wasn't the effective in Ottawa but he was very good in Dallas. Sieloff might not get a chance to play in Calgary with all the depth they have on D.

Getting bigger and faster in the bottom 6. At that price he is paid like a fourth liner so expectations should be aligned with that. I will say, every time the Flames have played Ottawa/Dallas I always noticed his "jam". He is getting paid less than Bollig...

Pretty sure it's because he fell out of favour with OTT and was being deployed as a shut-down type player which I don't believe is his style at all.

Great trade. Like others I liked Sielof but he simply was not going to play on this team, depth at D is too deep. Great chance for Chiasson to prove what he can do.

SIAP, but there's something to be said about getting "your guys" into the lineup like what Sullivan did at Pittsburgh...

his stats don't jump out at you, but if he was a good fit with GG in Dallas, its a solid roll of the dice he, esp with our depth at D and our lack of depth at RW

Swap Colborne and Frolik I think. Gives us a pure shut down line that can produce

What went wrong in Ottawa?

Chiasson: I stopped playing a net-front game, need to bring back a cycle game, had no fit with other players in Ottawa

Key thing I got was that he knows the coach and has a relationship with him
hopes it gets him back on track but brings effort regardless
