There's more to player value than simply "he's good".

If you read my original post with that trade suggestion it says
"Considering there's a new contract worked out prior to the deal."
Yes he's 30 but it's doubtful he's going to slow down in the next 4-5 years.

If we're paying a signficant price, I would rather walk away with Vasilevsky.

Why is that doubtful?

I agree it's going to take more than 35+Klimchuk+McDonald to get Bishop, but he may go a little cheaper than usual due to the pending expansion.
If Tampa is offering him in trade that means they intend to protect Vasilesvskiy and will be forced to trade Bishop at some point this season or lose him for nothing.
I'd be surprised if other teams aren't in on him if he's available though. He's an upgrade on a lot of goalies.

He should be right in the prime of his career. As a goalie he could have 3-4 more solid years in him at this stage. The question is whether larger goalies' bodies wear down faster. What sort of injury was Bishop hampered with these playoffs?

Guys like 37 year old Luongo have been solid while aging.
Not sure why you're aruging with me on this, the price for Bishop as he is right now is going to be very high, perhaps even higher than my theoretical trade.

Starter quality goalies are usually pretty good until 35.
That should be more than enough time for a prospect to emerge, likely Gillies.

IMO Bishop gets dealt if Stamkos has indicated he wants to return to Tampa, they need the cap space this season then.

nope. He can't officially sign an extension until July 1st, but Flames can get a rough idea of what he wants and if that is workable from their end. (if they have permission to talk to him)

Regarding Ben Bishop, Yzerman said he's talked to other teams who are looking for a goalie. But doesn't know when or if a deal occurs...

Yzerman hinting a 1st for tomorrow is involved?
Joe Smith @TBTimes_JSmith
#TBLightning Yzerman indicated if a first round pick is involved w goalie deal, it'd have to be done by tomorrow. But no guarantee.

I can't imagine the flames would give up this years 1st. If flames give up a first for Bishop then it would be 2017. I really don't want them giving up 1st's for a goaltender.

Try to move 35 + 54 for a late first and add from there.
Big no to #6.

I would give up 6 for Bishop. 6 won't be ready for 3 years. Flames window to win is Brodie's contract. No point wasting his prime waiting for other grapes to ripen. I like the D, I like the Forward core. We need a goalie yesterday. No better goalie available than Bishop. We need him or Reimer by July 1

On one hand I get excited thinking about Bishop playing goal for the Flames next season.
On the other hand I cringe at the possible acquisition cost.
Still though, I doubt BT moves 6th overall for a goalie, any goalie. I could see a trade being done after July 1st though for next years 1st rounder. A goalie like Bishop would go a long frigging way to keeping that pick out of any draft lottery that's for sure.

I like our defense, I'd like our goaltending if we got a guy like Bishop(signed) and with Gillies in the pipeline, but I can't get excited about the forward group just yet without at least 2 more quality wingers.

6th overall will or at least should never be traded for a rental.
Bishop is great but Yzerman is trading one year of him... look at the precedent for a goalie like Andersen still under team control long term, and apply to an older goalie, with one year left. He's got a better track record, but still worth no more, if not less.

11 pages of discussion, and not a single mention of Rafikov as part of the package for Biship, with Yzerman and his affinity for Russians.
