That's something I could agree with. Anger and frustration is boiling just below the surface for a lot of people these days.

There have been some pretty dark periods in human history. I think it just seems worse now because of how connected the world is.
I think the truly powerful control the world more absolutely than they ever have but overall, I'm not sure the world is more dangerous/tragic/sad now then ever before.

Safest time to be alive.
I think we definitely just hear about this stuff and more often. With the internet our access to news is instantaneous.
There are also more people in the world everyday. Just from a pure statistical point of view, you're bound to see more people snapping and "going postal".

I'm still not sure I agree with that. I just think, to blame the easiest target, social media and the internet just offers people more outlets than ever to express their anger. I really don't think society is that much angrier now than it was say 15 years ago. It's just people have more ways to express their anger. 15 years ago all you had were letters to the editor and talk radio. Now you basically have any avenue you want.

You hear about quite a bit more, from a lot more places, making it seem like you hear a lot more. 15-20 years ago, most people just heard about their hometowns, maybe their provinces. Now you hear about things across the world.
Bad news sells, good news is a harder sell, so you hear a lot of bad, and not much good.

Things aren't worse at all. Let's all stop getting fearful.
30 years ago here in Canada, the story with the British MP being killed would've been a small article in the next day's paper. Now we hear about it almost instantaneously. That's what's changed.

One change is crazy people get to talk to each other now and can choose to associate with only people who think like them. so I think holders of extreme opinions on issues has increased.
But overall by almost any measure but teen suicide the world, and Canada are safer and more humane places

I don't even think that's true.
There's always been radicals with an "ism" trying to kill people en masse. Yes it's easier for radicals to get in touch, but that's offset by our access to information. Before some crazy cult or political leader could convince people that "X" was true. Now we can go on the internet and find out it's BS.

I'll admit, that statement is anecdotal, based on my own life and who is in my social circle/community. Maybe my worldview is clouded by my own resentments and hangups. Statistics show the world is safer than ever but something seems 'off' with humanity these days. Not that it's necessarily 'worse' but people seem much more isolated than my parents generation. I don't know, I'm just thinking out loud right now.

I'm actually surprised it doesn't happen more often. Doctors offices and ER rooms are filled with a combination of crazy people and sheepish/sick people. Whenever I sit in a doctor's waiting room, I always feel like I need to look over my shoulder the entire time.

Is this in the 2-storey mall? Looks like right by the restaurant where I used to go for dim-sum three times per week.

Not to mention upset, scared, emotionally compromised, angry, hurt, desperate and/or in pain people, all of which don't really make for acting rationally and with forethought.

I think the part about society seeming angrier is due, in part, to the strong emotional response rendered on the internet and social media.
Everyone is outraged or ecstatic on the internet. People use the most extreme adjectives they can in their arguments through social media and they argue as if their survival depended on it. It used to be common for two sides of a debate to agree to disagree but people take themselves far too seriously now and their house must win. Every. Arguement.
Basically, I'll give you that people are more stressed. The level of connectedness and readiness that many feel they must maintain is demanding. However, I just think we're all a bunch of drama queens and we go all in on topics quicker than we would have in a less connected world.
