I mean... why?

I just don't get it. What's the point?

Who looks at a doctor's office, and says: "hey, I want to stab those people."

Things like this just drive me insane. I hate it.

I don't agree with that Phoenix, it is not the same. This is getting ridiculous.

Sad, who does things like this?
5 years ago we came to Canada seeking refuge ftom the madness we experienced every day back home; we're not even close to that level of mass insanity, but who knows in few years what it will look like.

It's not even close to what it used to be. The lack of respect for human life is remarkably low.

terrible but...it's proof of the obvious that a mass knifing can never be as devastating as when the crazies have easy access to military grade weaponry.

True, I'll take an idiot with a knife anyday over an idiot with an AR-15

Does more bad stuff happen now or do we just hear about everything these days?

There have been some pretty dark periods in human history. I think it just seems worse now because of how connected the world is.

I think the truly powerful control the world more absolutely than they ever have but overall, I'm not sure the world is more dangerous/tragic/sad now then ever before.

Horrible.

Just a warning if you are heading that way. I rode my bike north on 10th st NW and traffic was backed up on 16th ave past 10th. An ambulance was stuck on 16th and looked to have given up on the whole siren plan. Google Traffic shows 16th to be the only really bad area, but I'm sure that will change as rush hour picks up.

Wow, I was just listening to Fox news in the US and they mentioned this event. Crazy.

And I don't mean it is as dangerous/tragic/sad now then ever before in the history of the human race but the threats to our lives when we leave our borders is greater than it has been in my life. Which is pretty short in the grand scheme of things. Looking at that chart above, it isn't getting that much worse statistically (violent crimes), it just seems like there is more and more going on around the world, not just Canada.

We don't even hear about the sex slave trade, drug mules, child pornography and other unspeakable crimes occurring on a regular basis around the world. We live in a very safe country and every Canadian should kiss the ground they walk on as things could be much, much worse.

So yes, you are correct but things are worse in the world over the last 2 or 3 years. I can't even imagine how much worse it will get over the next 10 years.

Some people in this thread have a very pessimistic view on life.

well it's a thread about a guy going into a doctor's office and stabbing a bunch of people, killing one.

It's not going to be bubbly

Statistically crime's lower, but society seems angrier and more stressed out than ever.
