Default Palestinian water supply cut during Ramadan

Not really sure if fingers should be pointed at Israel or at the water company, but I'm assuming the latter. Doesn't sound like direct state involvement but the details seem kind of sparse so far.

What a dick move by Israel. Also appalling is the average per day water personal usage being almost six times greater than Palestinian consumption. 350 litres per day.

How do you even consume that much water per person? Especially in a region that's already short on water supplies.

Mostly that's industrial and agricultural use, it just gets divided up by the head.

It's always best to take any story from the middle east with a grain of salt, form the original source:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-a7082826.html

Quote:
A spokesperson for the Israeli government told The Indepedent there is "no truth" in the claims, and said the shortages were down to faulty water lines.

They said: "Several hours ago, COGAT's Civil Administration team have repaired a burst pipe line, which disrupted the water supply to the villages of Marda, Biddya, Jamma'in, Salfit and Tapuach. The water flow has been regulated and is currently up and running.
Not saying that you should trust the Israeli government on this, but I do find it troubling that the independent would only give one side's point of view in their headline.

http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/0...215243834.html

Al Jazeera did follow up, but made zero mention of the fact that there is any evidence to support water supplies being "cut off".

What's appalling is that people actually believe that because well, it's Israel and I read it on the internets. It must true!!

You can pound sand in the name of naivety. It isn't outside the realm of reason considering the many s4itty things each side has done to each other over their history of conflict.

As Reaper said, the appalling part is that Israel and Palestine have done enough to each other to make it seem 100% believable.

You think the average Israeli would use 350 litres of water a day just to screw with the Palestinians? Or that they would be that wasteful out of ignorance?

You know what? I don't give a rip one way or the other. You want to die on a hill where Israel needs to be absolved of any wrongdoing then you may do so on your own. Neither party has clean hands and the levels of depravity are no longer surprising.

What else do you call it? Whether it's for crops or to bathe their dogs what's the difference? Why should an Israeli get more access to that water?

Wasn't there a bunch of theories that World War III would be started over water?

Time to stock up the bomb shelter...

Maybe because being a modern, secular, western democracy gives them an economy that can produce it? Israel's number seems pretty reasonable when you consider that they're a desert and compare them to first world countries.

Secular? You sure we still talking about Israel? You do know you have to have Jewish ancestry to live in Israel other wise you need to apply, right? What a great western democracy!

Do you know where Israel steals its water?

Do you know what secular means? It doesn't mean ancestry...

They don't produce water, they take it out of the River Jordan, they get first dibs on it, you know, because they're in charge, and they have traditionally used water as a way of forcing Arabs to move, it's particularly useful for shutting down Arab farms.

They produce potable water, pedant.

You can nitpick if you want, but Israel's culture contributes to the power discrepancy that allows them a better quality of life than Palestine.

Nations that have lost wars and accepted that their ideology contributed to their downfall have been able to achieve qualities of life equivalent to their defeaters (e.g. Germany, Japan). Palestine refuses to become like Israel, and that keeps it from getting what Israel has.
