I guess I just interpreted it being able to output 4K where the old one was not as a sign of it being more powerful. Guess it's not the best measure. Thanks for the correction.

I don't know if I like this trend of basically upgrading certain parts of the console every three or four years. Its like they're taking the stupid Nintendo handheld model and applying it to consoles.

The thing I found a little different about Sony's presentation is that they use a LOT of cinematic trailers and less actual gameplay. Maybe thats just me and not actually true. It just makes the game look a lot more interesting than it ends up being.
No you're definitely right and I think that is what I appreciated about the Microsoft conference. They showed a cinematic trailer and then some gameplay for basically every game.

I'm with you. To me, the whole appeal of consoles was so that you weren't having to upgrade every few years. If that is going to be the case I'll go back to exclusive PC gaming
So Dice announced the playable nations in BF1 and I am supremely disappointed. British, German, Austro-Hungarian, Italian, Ottoman, and American. American. Seriously? You're going to leave out the French and Russians to put in America? #### off.

I don't think that's necessarily true.
God of War was an entirely new announcement and had a full gameplay demo, as was Days Gone. Resident Evil VII had a gameplay trailer. Notably, these were games we had NEVER seen before that got live gameplay.
We also got a very impressive Horizon demo, and CoD's campaign actually looked kind of good in a long demo.
I think adding gameplay demos for stuff like The Last Guardian or Detroit, when we can really get the gist of those from trailers, would've just been padding. And other things like Death Stranding or Spider-Man are likely a long ways off still, they'll have their time in the spotlight at future shows.

Wow, what a joke. We'll see them in DLC for sure but it should be the other way around.
This claims that the Xbox One S does have additional processing power.
Quote:
Gears of War 4 employs a dynamic resolution system that tweaks the game's rendering resolution in both single-player and multiplayer to maintain its target frame rate in each mode (30 frames per second and 60 fps, respectively). According to Fergusson, the Xbox One S has additional raw GPU and CPU power compared to the Xbox One, and The Coalition's engineers have been able to take advantage of that to reduce the frequency of frame rate or resolution penalties in more demanding sections of the game.

Super impressed by what I've seen so far at E3. I'm more into snowboarding than skateboarding, so Steep looks like a dream come true. I'd love to see something like that brought into VR, as it would just involve leaning. With gravity doing most of the work, it seems like a perfect fit considering VR still has that whole "how do we move?" problem.
Sony's conference was textbook how-to-E3. Not one nerdy developer trying to stiff-arm through his awkwardness, not one segment dedicated to people who aren't watching, and not one executive feigning excitement and trying to act.
It was also great to start seeing (what appears to be) some more fleshed our VR games. Sure X-wing and Batman are most likely going to be 30-60 minute experiences, but there's also games like Resident Evil and Farpoint that look like they'll be closer to traditional games.
That Star Trek Bridge crew looks amazing, as long as it has the captains add on feature of plowing the green skinned yeoman in the Captain's personal elevator.
I would also like to initiate a direct bridge to outspace transport for ensign Ricky our engineering officer.
