Big promotion for Reirden, less so for Gulutzan but a promotion from assistant and way, and in a city where they're screaming for the AHL guy to replace the current head coach.

Not sure why gulutzan would do a lateral move like that. Swap their positions though, and you might be onto something...

Carlyle's return to Anaheim leaves the Calgary Flames the line coach-less club. Gulutzan believed to be front runner. Nothing firm yet.

Reirden would be doing the same thing.

I wonder who would be coming with Gulutzan? I assume Gelinas is on the staff but who would be the other assistant?

Usually head coaches get to bring in a guy who they've worked with.

If it is Gulutzan, how about bringing Travis Green with him.

I don't imagine the Canucks would let Gulutzan come to the Flames unless he was going to be Head Coach, unless his contract is expiring.

Dean Molberg @fan960boomer
Not sure how Yeo/Carlyle ranked on #Flames short list but my best guess is Gulutzan has been a top candidate from the start. Now we wait.

I see Dean's tweet, but what do we think. Are the Flames getting their man, or did the other teams CB us and now we hanging around CPU looking for stragglers?

No. If the Flames were ever concerned in this process about losing their candidate to another team this whole process would have been shorter. Gulutzen has been linked to the job from the beginning.

@Buccigross
Also hearing that Rick Bowness to the @NYRangers as an assistant coach looks like it is going to happen.

Makes sense that there are a flurry of asst coach appointments going on, as they are being told they will not be getting one of the two vacant jobs.
Happy to hear the Anaheim news. Not basing it on any fancy metrics, just a gut 'fan' feeling that he Carlyle wouldn't be a fit here.

I would like this to happen just to see what the Canuck fans would do. That fanbase doesn't have much to cheer for and a lot to bitch about these days

Unless the only reason the process has taken so long is we kept getting rejected. You only get a ceremony and reception the seal the deal. We could be playing mahjong right now with her 80 year old grandmother.

We simply don't know that. Carlyle may have chosen Anaheim over Calgary. Same goes for Yeo. Fact is, anytime you are hiring a coach a lot of the good ones already have jobs.
That's why I was hoping for Sutter. It would have been the rare instance of a good coach choosing to switch teams.

So all this Travis Green Hype and nobody hires him.
Or he turned down offers and is waiting for Willie to get turf'd.

Hearing that Rick Bowness has signed an extension with Tampa Bay. Good place to stay. Close to a Cup perhaps.
