Sounds like Reirden is the type of guy I would want. So without knowing much about either him or Gulutzan, I would lean towards Reirden.

I would rather they hire back Hartley than have Carlyle. The only person in the coaching world I would prefer Carlyle over is Crawford.

Wonder if we are heading to a Reirden (HC), Gulutzan (Associate Coach) announcement.

Big promotion for Reirden, less so for Gulutzan but a promotion from assistant and way, and in a city where they're screaming for the AHL guy to replace the current head coach.

Looks like it is Reirden.

All the boxes Treliving had get checked off.

Great with defensemen, powerplay guru, great communication, very bright mind. Learned from alot of great coaches including Quenneville.
"and assisted with in-game adjustments" One of the reasons Hartley was fired, was his inability to do this. I like everything I read in that article, while also admitting I knew nothing about him prior to reading it.

whats interesting about that , is in an interview with Ryan Kessler recently , thats what he raved about Carlyle.(being a bench boss). explains a lot why Boudreau had bad playoff success.
Probably the only reason Carlyle is even being considered..

With all this smoke, I have thought for awhile Carlyle would be on our staff but not HC. Similar to former HCs on current staffs: Jacques Martin, Rick Bowness, Paul Maclean, etc.

Guy Gaudreau wouldn't be a half bad choice actually...better than Carlyle.

Funny how the absence of noise on Reiden is feeling a stronger rumour than the actual rumour on Gulutzan. Says a lot about treliving.

Based solely on previous experience, it seems to me Gulutzan would be the HC and Reirden the AC. It's not overwhelming or anything, but he has 6 yrs has a head coach in the echl, 2 in the ahl, and 2 in the NHL. Reirden has just the 2 years in the Ahl.

Not suggesting one is a better choice, just an observation.

Reirden seems like the ideal candidate. He also checks off one of Trelivings big boxes... He comes from winning teams. Sure the pens or caps may not have won cups with him, however they were both dominant teams during his time with them.

The lack of rumours around Reirden tell me that he's the guy.
