And if a house has a lawn then that's a dick neighbour too. Other options available.

A firepit is a dick neighbour thing to do (wood ones that is; go nuts with gas). The cavemen beside me finally moved out a year or so ago, but before that them and their monkey friends were burning pallets or whatever at all hours stinking up the neighbourhood. The fact that those are legal is mind boggling.

We all have an amount of dick we find acceptable.

I heard many of the city councillors both drive cars AND vote to build new roads and interchanges! Will no hero of the media expose this clear conflict of interest? Is Rick Bell no longer interested in buffoonery and demagoguery now that the Nenshi cabal has silenced the Wenzels and Chus of this city?

Wait so a lawn = lawnmower noise = dick neighbour?

Can we just pave our entire front and back lawns then?

Am I the only one who thinks that this forum is slowly becoming Pawnee?

We could get rid of the composting program if people Xeriscaped their back yards and put in skate board ramps in the remaining areas. This would reduce water usage, eliminate fertilizer run off and get rid of lawn mower noise.

Lawns are a huge waste, watering them should be banned (or at least the per m^3 water rate should include the capital cost of servicing lots and building water treatment plants)

Rant over.

In terms of impact Skateboard ramps are probably a net positive for the city.

They don't bother me really, but I get where you're coming from. Valid comparison.

If you really feel that strongly about the nuisance of lawnmowers outweighing the visual appeal of grass, then have at 'er. I disagree personally. I get the benefit of my street looking nice in return for some lawnmower noise (which I have to make too). My guess those is that this is just hyperbole.

Nah, methinks just meaningless hyperbole because he didn't like being called a dick.

It is just a simple comparison. Lawnmower noise doesn't bother me, neither do kids playing. I know as a dad that if my kids are making some noise out back then great, it means they are probably doing something fun. If my neighbors kid is riding a half pipe then that's great too, I might be inclined to join in. Noise is noise, I live in a city and can't escape it.
