I think he's trying to say that both the Boston deal and the Pittsburgh deal sucked. We got a bunch of junk instead of a bunch of different junk when Iginla nixed he deal.

How is a GM magically going to get better offers when the player will only consider 4 teams (2 of which didn't see interested)? Blaming Feaster when it was one of those offers or lose Iginla for nothing is rather short-sighted. Feaster wasn't a great GM by any means but it seems there are certain situations in which the fans like to pile on him when it isn't warranted.

Well when you look at Feaster's whole body of work, the Iginla trade certainly doesn't help his case.

While admittedly I blame Iggy for that debacle mostly - how it was handled and how it went down was a big mark on Feaster.
At some point Iggy submitted his list of teams and Boston was on it ..not 100% sure how the process works, but that to me should have given Feaster the green light to make the deal with Boston .
Burke hung on to Cammy due to bad offers ,and although yes we lost Cammy for nothing , I think the history of that paid off in the good return we got for Russell

I love Iggy as much as the next guy, but when he last minute decided to reneg and not accept Boston , we took respect and his reputation too much into consideration .. i believe there was still even a week left before the deadline
Where Feaster I believe dropped the ball was a) he allowed himself to be held over a barrel by the player -- he should have been in the media the next day advising we had a deal but the player reneged , and b) made it clear we will not give him away.. he had almost a week to call Pittsburgh's bluff

he likely would have driven up JBO's price as well by doing that

It should be a mark on Edwards and King. Ownership and senior leadership delayed the trading of Iginla to a point where his value was diminished and then let him pick where he went. Iginla was asked to provide a list of teams he'd be willing to go to, but was never asked to sign the NTC waiver until the trade was finalized. This wasn't an oversight...this was a decision made at the top to show respect for his service as a Flame. This held Feaster over a barrel and gave Iginla the final approval of any destination. Had Iginla been required to sign the waiver before the trade, Feaster could have picked a deal with any of the teams Iginla listed.

that makes a little more sense, and true.. they definitely waited too long .. about 2 years too late. i seem to recall a deal on the table for Brown and Quick from LA (when Bernier was the expected top guy) that got vetoe'd
