Alex Khokhlachev to sign with KHL
Joe HaggertyVerified account@HackswithHaggs
The scuttlebutt in Russia is that disgruntled center Alex Khokhlachev will be signing with a KHL team on July 1
Wasn't this the guy the Flames were hoping to land if the Iggy trade with the Bruins would have been completed?

He was. God damn, Feaster was bad at trades. We got Klimchuk, Agostino and Hanowski instead of Butlerkowski and a Russian minor leaguer. Picks would have been 29th instead of 30th, likely we get Klimchuk either way.
When you draft Johnny Gaudreau and still don't have a real job in an NHL front office, this is why.

It is indeed. Boston didn't seem to handle him the right way, every story I have read is he wants his shot and he never got a major chance so not totally shocked.

skilled player, bit too small to play C in the NHL effectively.

is it that boston didn't give him a shot, or did he just not earn it??

Boston doesn't treat young players all that well. Also he was top 5 in Ahl scoring and didn't get much of a chance
I wouldn't be surprised if a GM trades a pick for him. Probably Benning and Weisbrod

Taking a while to get to 5000

Would it be fair to say the Flames weren't hoping to land him so much as Boston wanted to throw him in? Don't recall that part of the craziness that was the Iginla trade.

Boston preferred to dress scrubs like Talbot and Rinaldo. Both these dudes, by the way, were in the NHL full-time at 21. The culture of "earning it" is a farce sometimes.

Russian forwards either make it as a top 6 or not at all. I'd be content if the Flames didn't draft another one ever unless it's a top 5 no-brainer.

What? There's been plenty of bottom 6 Russians. One of them just went out in the playoffs last week - Namestnikov.
Its less now than it used to be because of the KHL.

Plenty? I guess I have a different definition of the word. There's probably less than five Russian bottom 6ers in the league. I'd bet money that Namestinkov will go back home before he's 28 he's not making it as a scorer by then.

How have Jim Benning and John Weisbrod not acquired this guy yet?
Must have run out of second round picks.

The last few "Top 5 no brainers" haven't exactly gone so well, either. Yakupov, Filatov, Burmistrov...
Hopefully the Flames stay away from Sergachev.

That's too bad. Why doesn't Boston just trade him if they're not going to give him a shot. Something about NA coaches just can't coach Russian players

It's probably because he's not good enough and no one wants him for a top 6/9 role

Because there were a lot of clusterf@#$s that happened on Feaster's watch, all of which had an air of, "oh well it's not really Feaster's fault". But when there are so many, eventually the common denominator sticks out like a sore thumb.
