Seems that Toronto year was his outlier. Unless he tears it up in pre-season, buhbye MaydayRay, enjoy la vie en Suisse

He's not the player he was 3 years ago, and I would not want him as our starting option in the top 6 or rely on him for scoring. That being said, when call ups occur, you don't always have ideal options. He's still an NHL player in that he can keep up with the play, knows about positioning, etc...
I agree we need to give rookies opportunities too, but you can only slide so many into the lineup at one time before things fall apart.

I think a new coach may be just what he needs.
I liked the idea of meritocracy with Bob but Bob just didnt like raymond.
Hes quick and soft however. Id take PAul Byron back so fast if we could flip Bollig and Raymond to Montreal.
oi vey.
Stockton will be where he sits for a majority of net season is my guess and aslong as he is making a contribution there its not hurting anyone.

Buying him out just carries money into year after next. Let him compete in camp like everyone else. I like having him around - it's a good reminder of why to stay away from UFA signings.

Not sure about that - Bob gave him a lot more ice-time to do something than I ever would have.

I'm not sure time in Finland would help him much!

give him a shot with a new coach at training camp and see how he does. But I don't expect him at all to steal a spot. If by some miracle he does play well, hopefully he gets flipped for a pick immediately when some other team notices him

Yeah I'd rather bury him for a year, if necessary, than buy him out.

Let him take over TheScorpion's CP account, and enjoy the quality uptick.

No point in buying out Raymond unless there is a rock solid plan in place to effectively utilize the cap space it would create, or if he will likely be a poison pill down on the farm.
Otherwise just give him a chance at camp, and if he fails then send him back to Stockton.
No point taking on a buy out penalty for 2017/18 unless it's absolutely necessary.

We can't afford to play this like we did with Setoguchi.

Why does giving him a fair shot have to mean sustained time with Bennett as if there is no other way to give him a fair shot?

Would anyone here trade Raymond for Bickell plus a 4th or 5th round pick?
Both guys spent the majority of the season in the AHL last year, but we'd be getting back a 6'4" 225lb winger who'd probably be pretty relieved to get a change of scenery heading into his contract year.
Flames get a late pick for taking on the extra $900k of cap.

Yah I think the Flames give him a chance and if he earns it he stays, if not, they've shown no issues with sending him to Stockton.
Crappy situation for Raymond and I hope he succeeds!
