Late to this - did any of the Oilers attempt to defect or asked Putin for political asylum?

I believe Iginla will join that club when he's traded to the Flames and wins a cup

Do any teams hold the rights to that Finnish goalie Mikko Koskinen?
The Islanders drafted him 7 years ago, and he hasn't played in North America since 2012.
He plays for St Petersburg in the KHL, so maybe he was in the groove on his home ice, but he looked really great in the tournament.
6'7" & exhibited strong positioning throughout the tournament. I hope BT got his agent's number after he & Putin compared their respective strategies for World domination.

He's signed with SKA for the next two years.

Congrats to Team Canada. Such a solid game in the final. I am curious what influence, if any, BT had in the lines. They all looked good and seemed to know their roles so well. Scheiffle/Stone/O'Reilly were great. Duchene might have been the best player out their. Really impressed with Murray as well.

I think the lines would be all up to the coaches.

Murray is the luckiest man on earth. He really should have been picked by the Oilers if they weren't stupid.

I wouldn't get too carried away. He did end up in Columbus after all.
Better than Edmonton? Oh yeah
Better enough for him to claim "luckiest man on earth"? Probably not

That CBJ d-core looks pretty insane moving forward.
Murray, Jones, Werenksi, JJ, David Savard. They are completely set for a while. Right up there with the Panthers as the best young d-core in the league IMO. I guess the Flames have a pretty good young core too but some of them aren't established yet.

Huge congratulations to team Canada. I respect all the players for going over there and playing, representing their country. It must take a certain love of competition to play in this tournament and that is what you want to see in your team 's players.
I'm a little disappointed that none of our healthy, non free agent players played. I am sure each has their reasons and I will just hope it doesn't reflect a lack of passion for the game and competition.

And contrast again with all the players - especially on the US side this year - who told Hockey Canada and USA Hockey to GTFO.

With the World Cup this year, I don't mind players wanting some more time to train / heal / relax.

Understood, but don't you have added respect for the guys that go play in this?

Some, but mostly I know so little about what that decision is for the players that I don't really think about it.

I hate to say it but the fact that a handful of Oilers won that Tournament says a lot about the 'World Hockey Championships.'
The Oilers couldnt win a coin toss with a double-sided quarter but they can win this.
