I'll also add that I forgot about empty netters against. Those are +/- killers too that I forgot about.

In short, it's a bad stat and it';s not something you should be basing your opinion of a player on, unless it's a crazy outlier from the rest of the team.
+/- is really only OK when looking at a game-by-game basis. If your team wins 6-5, but you had a player at -5, it pretty safe to assume they had a rough game defensively. Conversely, if you lost a game 6-1 and had a player at +1, it's safe to say that he was probably the only player who had a good game.
Looking at it over the course of the season is not going to tell you much.

Sam Carchidi @BroadStBull
At Glou. Cath assembly, Gaudreau says he hopes to play a lot of seasons in Calgary, but would love to play for Flyers at end of his career.

Just sign an 8 year deal and then when you're 31 you can decide if you want to go to Philly Johnny. Hopefully the Flames have a couple cups by then.

Can't blame the guy, he's talking to people from philly lol.
If I was drafted by Philly, I'd want to come home to Calgary eventually too

I don't understand the motivation to complain about a young d man that is showing the potential to be a top pairing player as early as next year?
Dougie has an uncanny ability to get pucks through to the net and is as good as anyone in the league at jumping up into the play. He had some issues defensively early on but who doesn't at this age and on a new team? If you want to complain about contracts/performance, the discussion clearly starts and ends with Wideman, Smid and Stajan - $13M of dead weight.
I will be shocked if we aren't talking about Brodie/Hamilton as the team's top pairing in 2 years as Giordano regresses and Hamilton continues to improve. Who cares if this season wasn't statistically a prototypical "top defenceman" season for him. I'm pretty sure the next 5 will be.

This is win-win for Calgary. We get to keep Gaudreau during his prime years. Be entertained by him at his best. Then when his 8 year contract is up and he wants to play closer to home, trade him for a massive return. Do with Gaudreau what the Flames refused to do with Iginla .
What kind of return does a 31 year old Gaudreau get? Will he still be an elite player? How many Conn Smyth's will he have by then?
Thread title should be changed to '' Gaudreau excited to play for Flyers''

With a better Hamilton the Goalie stats would have been a lot better.
Hiller went from a .915 sv % 8 year career with to an off the charts bad sv %.
Adding Hamilton to a loosey goosey defense might have been one step too far.
All the goalies started playing like a tire fire out of the gate.
October Sv% Hiller .861 Ramo .868 Ortio .868
This is when it can be pretty well agreed that Hamilton was a disaster.
The goalies never got their mojo back.

I think it can be pretty well agreed upon that everything that went wrong with the Flames last year was because of Dougie, right?
Honestly man, it's laughable how much effort you've put into pushing this agenda. An entire seasons worth of terrible goaltending isn't due to Hamilton having a tough month adjusting to a new team.
You want to blame Hamilton for Hiller's "off the charts" bad year? Really? Maybe the game just passed Hiller by?

Hamilton doesn't have the fire inside him to be capable of that.
