I think we live in the best province in Canada. This fire had brough back memories of the 2013 flood and how everyone joined in to help one another. I witnessed first hand how kind and generious people are. It makes me proud to know that when an emergency hits there are always people and organizations ready to step in help.
My hat goes off to any of our CP members who are fighting or volunteering to help fight the fire and residents that have been displaced. You all have my greatest respect.

@RMWoodBuffalo signed off for the night and said they'd have new official updates at 8 am mountain.

Apparently the RCMP have started moving evacuees from up north in 50 car convoys. Sounds like the first convoy made it through Fort Mac a few minutes ago.

Morning satellite update:
Not looking good today. Looks like a lot of fresh outbreaks just east of the city across the river, and a few slightly north. Also a large patch south and along the highway. The main body of the fire has moved SE and looks to have overrun Anzac and about half of the Long Lake SAGD project site.
Another arm further east is also fairly large, but not much in it's path. The patch that started due east of Ft Mac has grown much larger as well.
Apparently I had the wrong Hangingstone project highlighted in my previous map, the Athabasca one is much closer to Ft Mac but I haven't found a map showing exactly where it is.

High Level
A few new spots getting closer to High Level. This is from a less accurate sensor so these may be false detections.

Ugh that's no good at all, I know of at least 3 friends who've lost their houses up there so far.

$200 from my side. I wish I could have done more, but was without a job for a year. Hopefully I will get a chance in volunteering my time as well

Hopefully the northern fires are controlled. From what I remember from the news last night they are expecting to wind to come from the North today which would be bad for the City again.

Fort McMurray Damaged Structures Assessment based on May 5th Satellite Images
A few important notes before you look at the diagrams.
This is not official and has not been prepared by a professional — this was a volunteer effort. The source is satellite imagery provided by Google in a CrisisMap that was collected near noon on May 5th. Interpretation of the images were then plotted on the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo map. This approach has limitations. It will not be 100% accurate. Expect potential errors in both directions.

If anyone has a house address in Fort Mac that they want to know if it is OK, let me know and I can look into the images and see if I can see it's status.
