The Reddit Feed guy commented on this and pretty much said assume fabricated until official word. I think there has been a lot of rumors of burning over the last 72 hours that turned out to be false.

I read 2 of the animal rescue reports and had to stop.

I couldn't imagine being prevented or having to leave my dogs in this situation. They would be so scared.

Growing up in Kelowna, I am no stranger to wild fires, but I can fortunately say, I never experienced anything like this. The photos and videos coming out of Fort Mac are nothing less than terrifying. My heartfelt and sincere thanks to everyone involved in the effort, from emergency personnel, to volunteers, to ordinary folks from all over Alberta, Canada and the World over for donating money: THANK YOU!

$50 to the cause.

This is such a tough aspect for me as I am such a huge animal lover/suck! I can't even imagine. Animal rescue is the part where I think I have chosen to help where I can for the moment. I'm fully aware it's not the most important aspect in all of this, but I think it is where I'd like to focus my energy. My hound and I have stuck together through all of this and I'm so happy to have my 'ole boy with me. I can't imagine having to have left him behind to fend for himself.

When we were evacuated the last time from south of town, one of our last acts was to open the gate for three horses whose owner had not been able to get back for them yet - he had transported more south but had a breakdown and couldn't get back by the time we had to bail and we were in no position to help them further. I hope they can fend for themselves of course but I know their chances are slim. So very sad.

For record, we opened the gate at his request and was really the only option. I know it was a terrible decision for him.

I guess any rescue groups coming in would be considered a hindrance to firefighting efforts right now. But these people have lost so much, hope they at least try to save some of their pets.

If allowed I would be there in 9 hours with a crowbar, axe, food and water.

I donated to the Red Cross at a level commensurate to my financial status.

I would like to point out (apologies if it's already been stated) that donating directly to the Red Cross is the best route. Please do not go through a third party utilizing a crowdfunding site (which takes a cut of the donations).

"Pet rescue mission starts now. I'm in gregoire. Comment address, animals, location of food. DOOR CODES. Also make it very clear what I can do to gain access."

This is a post I've cut and pasted from a Fort McMurray Facebook page 17 minutes ago.

It's a terrible page full of trolls and crap most of the time, but...

Despite all the firefighting efforts, the blaze around Fort McMurray is expected to grow stronger.

“Let me be clear, air tankers are not going to stop this fire,” Chad Morrison, manager of Alberta’s wildfire prevention, said at a briefing on Thursday. “This is an extreme fire event. It’s going to continue to push through these dry conditions until we actually get some significant rain to help us.”

I've hit tough times lately, but nothing compared to what these people are going through. Not much, but donated $10

$220 from me and my wife. We've had a difficult 2016 so far, with surgeries, major expenses and job loss, but this really puts things in perspective. Our hearts go out to all those affected.

The video on that link (Welcome to Hell) is terrifying. Driving into that smoke, not knowing what's ahead of you or if your car will protect you... Holy...
