Good job NHL. Sometimes getting it right on the 2nd try.

As with most suspensions, the NHL is too light yet again. Surprised he's sitting a playoff game though. Thought he'd get 5 or less.

suspending for the rest of the regular season is a blessing in disguise for the Hawks; Keith plays the most minutes of any player, so he will be well rested for the playoffs

10 is the minimum for me. Absolutely disgraceful and I said the same thing when he did it to Carter. I like Keith but that's complete garbage.

I'd like to see the NHLPA appeal this on behalf of their member Coyle. What a joke of a suspension

It's weird, I think Keith deserves more but I'm still happy with the result. When it happened initially, I thought 2 games max. The NHL has lowered the bar so far on this stuff that I'm happy whenever they don't trip over it.

But Duncan Keith was hit directly before hand. There's a possibility he suffered a concussion and therefore should not be liable for his actions. 6 games too long.

I feel similarly. I think it should have been at least 10, but I didn't expect that. I didn't expect any playoff games.

So I am glad to see that there is at least the one.

Ah, the token single playoff game suspension. The most token of token punishments.

Should've been a 10 gamer. This is the second time he'll have been suspended for intentionally slashing an opposition player in the face.

Obviously the first suspension didn't work.

If the NHL had given him a 10 gamer the first time, do we think he does it again?

With the league putting putting more value on playoff games versus regular season games i wonder if he would have gotten 10 games if it was earlier in the season.

I think missing 2 playoff games (7 games total) would have been better. As mentioned earlier this just gives them an excuse to rest their work horse for a long playoff run.

After seeing the montage of his ugliness, I'm pretty disappointed that its not a longer suspension. But am I surprised? Nope.

The league hates its hardcore fans the most.

Exactly.

NHL discipline/reffing is a complete joke.

Should've missed two, even three playoff games. Coyle could've lost an eye

How does he only get six games when this is a repeat offense for the same type of infraction? I'm not saying they are exactly equivalent, but Marty McSorley got an assault conviction and a one-year ban for hitting someone in the head with his stick.

Keith gets to rest up and come back in game 2. What a fearsome deterrent.

Seems about right to me. It was an ugly slash/high stick, but the slow motion replay made it look worse. It was still a reaction play and he only had one hand on his stick. There is no doubt, however, that Keith is one of the most vicious guys in the league when it comes to stick work. He's like a modern day Chris Chelios.

Matt Larkin from the hockey news is bending over backwards and almost turning himself into a Mobius strip to justify the length (or lack thereof) on twitter. What a display of cognitive dissonance.
