Do not forget about the 1994 Canucks and 1999 Sabres for eliminating the stinkin' Leafs in the conference finals.

Meh. The arena's already been built. Might as well get a tenant in there that will actually pay rent and lighten the load.

Great, another Canadian team that will miss the playoffs next season.

For that matter, the Quebec Bulldogs won the Stanley Cup twice and relocated to Hamilton.

We just forget about these teams because they folded before you young whippersnappers were born.

Now pardon me while I go yell at Gordie Howe to get off my lawn. Kids these days!

Doesn't count, pre NHL era. (Also Victoria won and moved to Detroit, I'm sure there's others.)

Victoria didn't move to Detroit. The entire league folded, and the Detroit expansion franchise in the NHL bought Victoria's roster.

Anyhow, who says pre-NHL champions don't count? That isn't any rule of mine.

Looking at the current economic situation to deternine where to put an NHL franchise is like using a snow day to disprove climate change.

Conditions vis-a-vis the Canadian vs. American Dollar which led the Nords to relocate are not dissimilar to the current situation now.

Given that, I'm inclined to say this rumour might have some legs to it. It's an ego thing with Peladeau.

I got the perfect solution. Move Carolina to Quebec and put an expansion team in Hartford!

In all seriousness, brass bonanza forever!

I think it sucks when fans lose their team, so I don't like advocating relocation. From a personal point of view, I would love to see another team in Quebec. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some conversations on the down low back when the decision was made to build the arena, but the economic situation doesn't seem ideal right now. Having said that, it doesn't matter if a team loses money as long as someone is willing to own them and cover it. It's more about franchise value over the long term.
