For Nurse the ranking is mostly based on potential. I still think he has the time and ability to turn into a top pairing d-man. Obviously he's far from a finished product but he's been rushed. We will see if it permanently hurts him, I think he can probably turn around his career now that the real clowns in Edmonton aren't in complete control.

Lindholm is still a very good player. In comparison to Monanhan he's a touch smaller, much more of a slick puck handler, got some sneaky offence in him. I think he actually compares in style more to Bennett although not quite as feisty. I think he has elite 2nd line centre potential or bottom tier 1st line centre potential.

Wennberg impresses me every time I watch CBJ. Very, very smart player. Very good puck handler. Very skilled overall. Decent size on him. Definitely a top two line centre already. Much like Lindholm I think he can be an elite 2nd line centre or a bottom tier 1st line centre.

I mean I don't watch a ton of those guys but those are my impressions from what I have seen.

I probably should've put Burakowsky on my list as well, I've seen him the least though so I didn't feel as confident placing him in the rankings.

.
Lindholm is 3 months younger than Jankowski.

Since he was drafted he is #5 in Cane scoring. He has 1.3 hits /game in in his 215 NHL games. 4th on his team over the past 3 years. Bennett is 1.5 hits/game.

If you put his 97 NHL points in 215 NHL games up against jankowski's accomplishments to date... where would you see Jankowski topping out?

If Lindholm was a Flame I know that I would still think that he has a better than 50% chance of being a #1C. Much higher upside than Backlund for instance.

He does ... just not at the Toews level. Even to compare him to Toews is respecting Monahan.

yeah, let's compare Lindholm and Jankowski, that makes a ton of sense. Are you actually thinking about certain criteria before you decide to compare players or are you just drawing random names out of a hat?

Can you explain how any of this is relevant?

Did anyone say "Lindholm sucks"?

This is a thread talking about Monahan, and it's no slight against Lindholm to acknowledge that Monahan is superior at this point.

Additionally, you're replying to someone who said Lindholm is "a very good player" and " I think he has elite 2nd line centre potential or bottom tier 1st line centre potential"

What do any of the facts you regurgitated about Lindholm (or comparing him to Jankowski) have to do with what you quoted - or this topic? What or who are you arguing with?

In case you're unaware, this is why people are bewildered with you.

Why didn't you make a similar post under FDW's post:

I read that FDW expressed his opion that at age 21 Lindholm's chances of being a #1C were very small. There are a lot of posters that have put the similar aged Jankowski's potential as a 1C or 2c . FDW might have expressed that opinion on other threads.

Comparing same age players, was an effort to explain my support for having Lindholm becoming a #1C like Monahan?

Perhaps you were cheering on the Jets and missed the long pre-draft discussion on the merits of Lindholm/Monahan rather than being a Keep it on topic hall-monitor here at CP.

But again why did you not make the same comment on FDW's post that was every bit as on or off topic as mine?

I wanted Lindholm over Monahan in the draft, but I wasn't upset at all that we ended up with Monahan.

Monahan is better, Lindholm will still be good, no shame in being wrong about who we should have taken in my mind.

I'm really hoping he becomes a 30 goal scorer this year

IIRC I wanted Lindholm too. But to be fair, most rankings and mocks had him ahead of Monahan. TSNs final rankings were:

1. Nathan MacKinnon
2. Seth Jones
3. Jonathan Drouin
4. Aleksandar Barkov
5. Elias Lindholm
6. Valeri Nichushkin
7. Sean Monahan
8. Rasmus Ristolainen
9. Darnell Nurse
10. Max Domi

He said in the very post you quoted that Lindhom is a good player and will be a very good 2nd line centre or a lower tier first line one. How is that under-selling him to the point where you quoted that and just regurgitated facts about Lindholm? I don't even understand how or why you are arguing with him? It makes no sense, which is why I asked how you use that as a jumping off point to spout Lindholm facts like someone slighted him?

You seem to think I took issue with you for being off topic. It's because it seems *every* topic escapes you, and you use sheer randomness to go off on warped tangents, bringing up players you randomly dislike and using it as an opportunity to rant about them. This was another perfect example of that, and why people are generally left bewildered by you.

Cannot overlook the leadership factor. It's that element--combined with all the others--that makes Monahan the best of his draft year imho.

So his Post was on topic and my reply was off topic? or were you just posting off topic to get your post count up?

I definitely was not arguing with him. I was having a civil discussion where I thought that he may be underrating Lindholm. There may have been some things he missed when looking at Lindholm. I wasn't calling him out, being abusive or attempting to bully him.

I honestly don't think you're often - if ever - aware of what the topic is. You hit reply and end up moving from what's being discussed to different players for no apparent reason at all.

But if you want to pretend what he said is all you're on about in this thread:

If he said Lindholm is "very good" and "he has elite 2nd line centre potential or bottom tier 1st line centre potential" how is that underrating him?

Barkov or Monahan?

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I didn't realize that Monahan is a better faceoff man than Barkov. That's great.

was I more or less off topic than FDW on this thread?

Why would you bother to post your nasty confrontational post?

As you are attempting to bluff your way out of making a unwarranted personal attack on me:

of course there is a difference in being a true 1C and and a bottom tier 1C or an elite #2C.

If you want someone other than me to explain it simply make the erroneous post that Monahan will top out as an Elite 2C as Bennett will be the elite #1C.

More, and to answer your question a 3rd time, because you do this all the time, and a multitude of people point it out to you.

No one asked you what the difference was. You chimed in as though you were taking issue with a post when there really was no issue. You already said you "weren't arguing" with him.

Now apparently the difference between "a bottom tier 1C or an elite #2C" and a true one (specific to Lindholm's case) is super objectionable and polarizing to you?

Come off it. I'm done with you. What a waste of time, and no ones more so than your own.
