Lottery be damned. Winning is ALWAYS better than losing and I loved the way they played. One day the Hockey Gods will reward the teams that play hard down the stretch.

So, can we now admit that we have some quality prospects on the farm? There's been a lot of pessimism over the farm because of the stats, but these guys can step in and play. Things are not as bleak as some would lead you to believe!

Im pretty bummed about Poirier still. He really needs to crank the volume up.

Jeezus. It seems like with each passing game left in this season Stajan is doing nothing but strengthening the case that he needs to be bought out. It's pretty embarrassing and quite frankly really sad.

With the proposed expansion rules, I can't see why it would be advantageous to buy him out though. He has been brutal, agreed.

Default Flames win 5-2 against the Coyotes

I like the Ferland-Bennett-Colborne line.

Also my opinion of Colborne has turned around completely this year, more than anyone else. He has looked good consistently for a couple months. He uses his size, he's making better decisions with the puck, using line mates better and putting up points.

People have to keep in mind that it's really tough for veterans once their team is out of it.

The young guys are fighting for ice-time, but for vets it's just 'get me out of here'

(and I know, people will argue that Stajan should be fighting for ice-time, but human nature is what it is)

Whomever makes decisions on World Cup roster spots...hope you were watching Brodie tonight. This kid is good. Silky smooth skater. Was enjoying him ragging the puck around the yotes.

Team is 2-0 without Gaudreau this season. Obviously he's the problem.

Wonder what a Doughty-Brodie pairing would look like?

Aside from the expansion thing, what is the better option than from a buyout? I can't see any better options.

Burying him in the AHL next year doesn't save the Flames that much money.

Keeping him on the roster for next year is looking increasingly like a worse idea as, 1) he's regressed badly from previously and, 2) this team has multiple options on the farm who could likely do just as well if not even better as a 4th line centre. And, 3) Given how awful he's been, I can't see the expansions teams looking at getting him.

It would look like Canada dominating the whole tournament.

It would be pretty amazing to go on a winning streak and then still win the lottery to steal Matthews away from the Coilers. One can dream
