CBC review tears it apart:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/arts/movie-re...502175?cmp=rss
then gives it a 3 out of 5...

Heck, even Nerdist, which is pretty easy going when it comes to comic book movies only gives it 3 out of 5.

AICK talks about huge logic leaps and how Bats and Supes suddenly become friends in a Step Brothers like fashion.

"You like this? I like that? Did we just become best friends? I think so. Let's go to the garage and do karate."

That is border line spoilerish pseudo I think you should edit that post please.

It's fine to talk about what a reviewer thinks but please don't share the details of the plot from the review in this thread.

If Sups and Bats come to terms based on their mutual love of John Stamos, I am ok with that.

I am not sure if you are serious. It was taken from the non-spoiler review and reveals less than the trailers or dare I even say the title of the movie.

I think it's pretty obvious that they're going to be buddy buddy from the trailer?
I haven't read any reviews or spoilers.

Okay I am a very picky movie goer, have been reading comics for 3 decades, and I don't even like the current season of Daredevil on Netflix and I disliked large parts of Deadpool...and I hated Man of Steel.

But this was great!!! No surprises as they gave EVERYTHING away in the trailer. There are big leaps of logic for Bats, but not as much for Superman.

That was my favorite superhero movie since Iron Man 1. Bad logic? Leaps and bounds. Snyder's lame filming style? Definitely. Powerful moments that kept reminding me of the past 20 years of Superman and Batman comics? Tons! It was just full of powerful moments and I loved that. I've also finally been able to appreciate Zimmer's Superman theme. I really disliked it in MoS but it is very poignant in this one. Batman's music feels a little Burton era esque but you hardly hear it. Wonder Woman gets some crazy electric guitar thing which I thought wouldn't make sense but it fits the Amazonian fierceness.

So what you're saying is that your taste in movies and TV is some sort of Bizarro version of most of us?

That's the only logical explanation here.

Considering H&L's lofty standards for seemingly everything, that encourages me.

Though, I'm pretty sure they didn't give EVERYTHING away in the trailer.

Comic book characters are really about a sense of aesthetics, style, themes, and powerful imagery. A lot of comic book films and TV shows don't have those moments. This film does for me, and Batman finally appears as I've always thought he should on the screen. Cavill finally starts living up to Chris Reeve's legacy. Wonder Woman was also well done. I still can't stand this universe' Lois. I know Amy Adams is not Jenna Fischer but she still seems like it's Pam from the office and not Lois lane. That's the only part of this universe I don't really like.

For me, it's really about those powerful moments and imagery and parts of this film did finally feel majestic, like an Alex Ross comic book.

Yes, yes, yes! But all I want to know is: does he reverse the spin of the earth?

As others have pointed out, my standards may not same as everyone else's . I just appreciate things according to a different standard than a lot of people. IE: I felt like Deadpool's Weapon-X origin was badly done and a wasted opportunity. I feel like S2 of Daredevil has a substandard representation of the characters (Matt, Elektra, and Punisher) and clumsy TV dialogue.

I think this film represented the characters much better than I expected. Batman is definitely a little older and I excused his behavior as simply being weathered and a little more psychopathic. You all saw in the trailer that this is post "Jason Todd" if you know what I mean. He even has a line where he says something to the effect of good guys don't stay that way forever and he's plagued with lunatic nightmares throughout...one of which actually feels like a DC "Crisis on Infinite Earths" style comic plot.

The plot and leaps of logic may not make sense at times but the dialogue is fast paced and sharp and doesn't linger long enough to be bad. I sense there was a missed opportunity to have the Batman vs Superman fight be actually be about something...something substantial; ideological, about their ideas of what justice should be, etc... but it turns into Batman going mad from all the carnage in the previous year and losing the control he's fought so hard to get his entire life - and Superman fighting because of a comic book cliche reason.

The first trailer did reveal everything but I won't say how.

FYI, I stuck around for a post-credits scene but did not see one.

Yes, and this time it's done realistically - and at the speed at which Superman not only stops the earth but reverses it - causes major tectonic shifts, destroying continents. Major parts of the atmosphere are flung off into space. As earth's core slows down and stops before spinning the other way, Earth's magnetic field disappears and solar winds and cosmic radiation burn off the surface. Almost everybody dies. That's when you realize Clark was home-schooled on a farm in Kansas.

Well I guess I must be a self hating comic book movie fan because I just bought a ticket for Monday in Imax at Chinook no 3d. the no 3d thing was the clincher.

I just want something to do on my day off and self flagellation seemed like too much effort. At this point even if it is a dumpster fire I want to see for myself. Funny because I didn't see MoS until it was on Movie Central and there have been a few duds that I just skipped entirely until they were free.

Plan is to go in with zero expectations and be pleasantly surprised but I'm not ruling out sitting in my seat huffing and puffing silently to myself with righteous indignation while I ponder how Zack Snyder, DC and the WB execs need to be shot into the sun.

It was. It is my biggest gripe with the film. It glossed over too much of what should have been the most important, character shaping, moment.

I dunno, I thought being in that air-waterbaord chamber for a whole weekend would be the worst thing ever.

I'm 0 for 2 on avoiding comic movies I had no interest in so far this year. But a friend of mine who is also a comic fan invited me out to see both of them. So it's social time with a friend, with a gap of time I need to endure. Hopefully I survive the experience tomorrow.

Also, glad to know there's no post credits scene to stick around for.
