If Jankowski turns out to be an NHLer, should we un-fire Feaster?

That wasn't even close to his biggest mistake. The 2012 draft is really looking like a dud. Jankowski very well may pan out but he hyped the kid as a star player and best in the draft when he picked him.
Feaster was a poor trader, big talker, and made the organization look foolish with the RoR offer sheet and Iginla trade. People can defend both moves but it is not disputable that the organization looked foolish after both moves.

My biggest wish is for Janko to become a respectable NHLer so the detractors can finally shut up. I'm sick of the whole controversy surrounding him.

I agree and I don't even think it's controversial. Every single draft teams make picks "off the board" with a high risk, high reward project. Feaster and friends could've played it safe but instead tried to swing for the fences. Sometimes you hit a home run, sometimes you strike out and everything in between. The Jankowski pick was not some weird, historical aberration but the same type of pick that other teams make every single draft. Sometimes you get a Gaudreau in the 4th round, sometimes you get a Yakupov 1st overall.

What is respectable... will it be enough if Jankowski gets in 40 games next year as a 4th liner.
I would think that the criteria for considering it a successful draft pick would be for him to get to the level that the 7 players that the Flames passed on to trade down to pick Jankowski (and then also get Sieloff)
Zemgus Girgensons
Cody Ceci
Tom Wilson
Tomas Hertl
Teuvo Teravainen
Andrei Vasilevskiy
Scott Laughton
These all are established NHLers who will all expected to be full time NHLers next year and play more than 200 NHL games.
Will the Jankowski supporters be valid do a victory lap if Jankowski is able match the career of Laughton? ie 100 NHL games 10-12 minute/game over the next 2 seasons? laughton would be the weakest to date of the 7 guys picked ahead of him.
Will he be a 13 minute/game 20 pt/season energy player like Wilson?
It would be too much to imagine that he would be a top 6 forward like Hertl/ Teravainen. Ceci is a 19 minute /game top 4 d-man with 200 NHL games and 2 20 pt season.
These were all the guys on the board that Feaster and Company were pretty sure would be drafted ahead of Jankowski, but they knew were not at all as good as Jankowski was going to turn out.

I just got Ricardodw'd. Is that like a CP right of passage into true postership? I feel honored.

Why would next year be THE year that we have to make a final decision on if it was a good pick or not? C'mon Ricardodw, you have to start being able to understand player development process. It's the single biggest factor in player analysis and you just can't seem to see it at all, it's unbelievable.
You just want everything to be complete and quantifiable at any given moment so that you can make your analysis and claims. It's getting awkward. I defend you where I can, but good lord man, you have to start to be able to see your flaws or else you're just pissing into the wind, and the whole board is getting hit.

So far the players named have been more valuable to their teams than Jankowski has been to the Flames. Yeah that could change as we don't know what we have in Jankowski yet.

He asked a perfectly legitimate question, and presented some sound data to back it up. When is it okay to judge that pick? 2016-17? 2017-18? 2018-19?

The pick has been judged from day 1 up until the present. I can't wait to finally see him signed and playing some pro hockey. I really hope he shuts a lot of people up!

After he plays in the NHL or fails to make an NHL squad.
Pretty straight forward really. Goes without saying it's extremely premature to judge it at this point in time. That's for sure.

When all the players are fully developed. Probably 2 to 4 years away from being able to accurately judge it at all.
