I'm with you on this one.
As much as Iggy deserves the mantle of best player in Flames history (or at least best career) he wasn't the most entertaining. For me, that's always been Fleury. But Johnny's such a pure delight to watch, he'll only need a couple more years to match Theo.
Kid's a magician.

It was far from an Iggy show. That was a TEAM, led by Darrell.

Yeah that team and chemistry really was the perfect storm.
Montador and Commodore played above their heads.

When Johnny starts to score on the road consistently, he will win Art Ross trophies.

I'd be more worried about that if he hadn't been pretty even last year in home/road splits - 35 pts in 41 home games, 29 pts in 39 road games. Just strikes me as an anomaly more than anything.

He has among the lowest PP points of the leaders. If the Flames fix their power play next year it will boost his points further

Iginla was 27 and in his prime in '04. He was not nearly as dominating overall as Johnny when he was 22 (He put up 51 points in 82 games and had many more seasons under his belt).
I never said he was guaranteed to be more dominating, I'm just saying it's very well in the realm of possibility. Lets not forget Johnny's 9 points in 11 games in the playoffs as a 21 year old rookie. Pretty much the same PPG as Iggy in '04.

Looks like he is on pace for 32G, 49A = 81P in 81 games. (Where did the on pace for stats go from TSN?)
Man it would be sweet if he could get 50 assists.

it will probably even out over time but hopefully they can use it to their advantage in negotiations

Looks like a lot more Flames fans need to show up at road games to keep his spirits up!

I highly doubt that plays any factor in negotiating his contract.
These home away stats: (Games / Goals / Assists / points)
Home 33 22 21 43
Away 32 6 17 23
belong to Sidney Crosby.
It happens. Gaudreau is also lacking in power play points. I highly doubt that factors into his contract talks either.
There are a lot of interesting anomalous stats... like how he's 9 points clear of any member of the Edmonton Oilers. The list could go on and on.
At the end of the day, he's going to get paid because he's one of the most creative and talented forwards in the NHL.

Absolutely Johnny can become dominant. I hope he does, in fact.
But again, Iggy in his prime was widely (but arguably) considered the best player in the NHL. He could hit, he could fight, he could lead. Oh, and he's also got 600+ goals.

Johnny does praise the C of Red regularly. Maybe you are on to something?
I oft wish that the Flames (or CP) would organize themselves for away games like many European soccer clubs do, and send a contingent of a few thousand of the most boisterous Flames fans you can find.

I know I would venture to away sporting events if flights in Canada weren't so expensive.
You can fly places for like $99 in the USA can't you?

Just love watching Johnny play. Especially when i'm at the dome... You can feel/hear the crowd building with excitement when gaudreau starts flying up the ice with the puck. He is definitely one of the top 5 offensive players in the league in my opinion. Kane, Benn, Crosby, Karlsson, and Johnny I think are all on that list right now.

It was. Lol. Can't leave out the best sniper in the game. There are also other guys that aren't far behind the players on that list... Guys like Tarasenko, Seguin, and probably McDavid.

Johnny is within 2 points of #3 Seguin, #4 Kuznetsov and #5 Karlsson with less games played than all of them.
I hope he owns this homestand with some more multi-goal/point games and finds himself in the #3 spot 5 games from now. That'd be amazing. Definitely something to cheer for as a fan. I think it's definitely on Johnny's mind now.
