I couldn't possibly be happier. Did not want Russell on the team anymore and didn't want to see him drift into UFA, what an awesome return on what is a massively overrated dman. Russell is way too small and slow to be effective, nice work Treliving, you did it. Hudler and Russell, Brad's earning the paycheque.

TEAM 1040 is spinning a rumour that the same deal Dallas made with the Flames was agreed upon by Benning and Nil, but that the deal was kiboshed by the Aquillini ownership group in Vancouver because of some childish ongoing feud they have with the Galliardi ownership group in Dallas. According to Bob Marjonovic, once Van renegged, Dallas turned to Calgary with the same deal.
Deperate tin foil hat-level conspiracy theories abound in Vancouver to somehow justify the Canucks GM's incompetence, and the unthinkable notion that Kris Russell might actually be a more desirable player than the broken down Dan Hamuis.
