During the pre-game show Treliving said he doesn't expect to see many 1st round picks moved besides Chicago's at the deadline. Everyone should prepare to be enraged again.

I don't know why people are so cracked on a late 20s first for Russell. I would much rather get a good prospect that can help us as soon as next year.

That means former 1st rounders are a go right?

I don't know how you can call a GM a wizard for one trade (Glencross) and then claim this was all he could do because it is market value (Hudler) on another. That rationale would apply to very trade. Let's see how BT does when the dust settles after the deadline and we can compare return to comparable players.

What's with the "Go Panthers" crap?

Screw that. I hope they don't win another game this season and we get a pick in the low 30's instead of the high 50's

I think the return for Hudler is pretty good.

He was going to be off the team in what, 8 weeks? Flames have an extra 2nd and then another extra asset for later which is always nice to help a couple of years from now when the Flames are hopefully buyers and can use a pick like that to help nab a hudler-esque player for their own playoff run.

Based on what Journalists were saying about both trades prior to them happening, the Flames got more than expected. In the case of the Glencross trade, it just so happens that the Flames ended up getting a LOT more in light of Glencross retiring following the season. In the case of Hudler, right now it doesn't look like a homerun compared to the Glencross deal, but, it's a solid double that you might stretch into a triple if that 4th rounder turns into anything.

Good trade.

I understand that Hudlers contract ends this summer. But when team lacks hockey IQ it is not right to trade most smart player on the team. Even bad Hudler is better player than most of our roster.

so keep him for 22 games and lose him for nothing? Top line is doing fine without him tonight

Why not to resign him? He is not cheap player but he is worth it. Very clever with highest hockey iq in th team. Also better to spend money on Hudler or Hudler-type player than spend money for Raymond or Jones.

I cant understand such trades after i see Jooris cant score on mostly empty net from the spot. Its a joke.

I could understand if he was the smartest but not the 'most smart'

Ok. One of smartest. But smarter than most of our roster. We still lack hockey IQ and from that point of view it is a bad trade.

Good trade, fans have only themselves to blame for their disappointment in the return.

Have you seen this year's Hudler? His give a #### level was about a 2 out of 10. He completely checked out. He's slow, and he's getting old.

I like Hudler but money is better spent elsewhere. This team is going to have a 4-5 year window opening starting next season or the one after. He is not part of those plans.

If his give a #### meter was so low, it is highly suspect that the meter was reading so low in a contract year.

One year Gaborik only got a 2nd, Frattin and a conditional 3rd. And we couldn't even get a 2nd rounder for Cammalleri.

2nd + 4th seems pretty decent compared to those deals/non-deals for a player who half a bad half year.

Craig Button, if anyone likes him, rated it a B+ trade for Calgary.

Again, a bit of a headscratcher on why people are so upset....

If Calgary was a playoff team this year, would you have given up a 1st + for a guy like Hudler?

come on...
