Well you don't necessarily just take the first 2nd rounder that is offered even if that is the price you've set. Some playoff teams may be able to offer a previously acquired 2nd rounder from a worse team. A 2nd rounder 15 spots higher is worth considerably more.
You might have multiple teams offering 2nd rounders on Monday in which case you can try to play them against each other to see if anybody is willing to offer a 2nd+. Some teams may lose out on their 1st choice UFA guy and then be willing to pay more for Hudler than they were before.
The deadline itself is a big pressure point. His value is likely highest on Monday.

Lol, if you can get Nichuskin alone for Hudler you take it and run.

It's happening.

Obviously, at this time of year, doing "play by play" of trade talks/negotiations is dangerous. Things can change so quickly. That said...

CHI's interest in VAN D Dan Hamhuis has cooled considerably. At THIS moment, CHI focusing more on lower-level depth options on blueline.

Schultz is a lower level depth guy, can definitely play well in the AHL.

Seen this one coming. With picking up Jay Harrison , he can fill a void in you bottom 3. Also, Van wants a 1st for Hamhuis and Chicago doesn't have one.
They pumped the tires so hard on this one yesterday that they screwed themselves by trying to drive up the price by leaking knfo so they could get multiple bids.
Now, Hamhuis may have to waive to go to Dallas or somewhere with much less of a chance to win the cup. So will he bother waiving or just play lights out in Van and sign somewhere else in the summer?
Who knows but I hope this just keeps getting worse for that franchise.

I think he's already said he'd be willing to get traded and come back next season . He wants to finish his career in Vancouver.

CHI would probably offer 2 seconds for Russell if they are interested in him. Do they have only their own 2nd?
I'd take a 2017 first rounder over 2016 & 2017 second rounder if they are willing to do that.

Watch, Russell will go to some team totally unexpected, like the Rangers for Kevin Hayes or something.
