No. It says Trade Speculation and Rumors. So really, what's wrong with some 'wild specualtion'? Plus, there's been much worse proposals here before.

3.) The defenceman UFA pool this year is extremely weak. If you're a GM, how much term are you willing to offer these guys? Yandle and Boyle will likely want to stay in New York, and the list pretty much drops off a cliff after that with Hamhuis and Russell. If hitting the cap floor was a concern, I'd personally feel much safer about a guy on an expiring 1 year deal than signing a UFA to term and big $.

Fair enough. Just seemed a stretch to say the leafs 'need' him.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really hope the don't trade Wideman now. As long as we can get Monahan and Gaudreau done, his cap hit isn't a concern next season.
His value can only go up. With all this suspension garbage and his terrible play this year he's plummeted in value. I can only hope that in a contract year he gets back to last year's form. Last year's Wideman on an expiring contract returns us pretty great value. Right now, I'd be shocked we get anything useful.

Also Wideman has a NTC or NMC or whatever. Hes worth garbage and gets to pick where he would go. So pretty much not gonna happen this deadline.

That's true, he'll want to go to a team with a shot at the prize. If the Flames aren't looking to re-sign him, and he's playing well enough that a good team will want him he may lift it then. Right now, there's really no reason for him to waive it.

That is foolish talk.
Dennis Wideman is better than a pro tryout dman.

Draglikepull @draglikepull Flames scouting at the Leafs game again tonight. (h/t @JeffVeillette) Sure is an awful lot of smoke if there isn't any fire.
Bernier playing back to back games. Showcase? w

Futile Things Flames Management Likes to Do
-Fail at drafting & developing goaltending
-Trade its 2nd round picks
-Acquire little brothers of vastly superior players
-Trade with the TML

Bernier pulled less than a minute into the 2nd, I assume the Flames scout just packed things up and headed out to the nearest pub.
Marincin not on the bench to start the 2nd either. Further need for the Leafs to get more NHL calibre D men.
