It's a bit odd that this process takes so long...what if the final resolution is that Wideman should'nt have been suspended at all? I suppose he'd get his money back, but he would have missed a number of games in the process...

Weren't they both by either Glencross or maybe Lombardi? And didn't they have an actual goal so it would've been a hattrick?

This is just a slow play by the NHL.
What they don't realize is they are actually helping the Flames by forcing Hartley to replace Wideman with Hamilton on the PP

Monday has come and gone, and neither the Wideman nor Coyotes sagas have ended...I guess there's always next Monday...

Isn't the amount of time this is taking getting to be a little unfair? There are still more avenues that need exploring, but it's all being held up by someone with a vested interest in keeping Wideman suspended as long as possible.

Justice delayed is justice denied, to paraphrase.
Just not sure what to make of it. Would they take this long and not reduce? It would seem odd, but I guess Bettman did hear 6+ hours of argument. Trying to reduce the chance of appeal, I would guess, but I think the NHLPA would appeal in almost any case.

If I was Wideman I would file an appeal simply due to the fact that Bettman has taken so long. He could receive money for all these games that he's missed

I'm sure the NHLPA is hounding Bettman/the league.

He's already missed 7 games. If Bettman drops it to 10, there probably won't even be time for an appeal to the arbitrator. Maybe that's Bettman's plan.

How do you know what a 3rd party arbitrator would determine, let alone able to speculate on it's probabilities

Bettman likely thinks he is writing a Roe v Wade type decision. News flash Gary - you are an NHL commish, not a Supreme Court Judge - just issue your ruling and get on with it!

Which creates kinda an interesting situation, because he should still be able to appeal because hes losing his salary not just missing games. Even if Bettman lowers it to 8 Thursday afternoon could Wideman not still appeal to try and get some of his lost salary back?

You would think that would open the door to litigation anyways
