Calgary roster update: #Flames granted non-roster status for Dennis Wideman. Micheal Ferland has been activated from the injured reserve.
Wideman on non-roster status means he will not count to the 23 man roster limit while suspended.

The NHLPA has filed an appeal with the NHL on behalf of Dennis Wideman following today's suspension

I think they got it right. There is just too much speculation about what happened, and in the end the League has to protect the officials.
