Don't be surprised if he goes to free agency (tumultuous history with the Coyotes)

I would love to get Boedker for next season.

Oilers have decided to be sellers
Purcell will likely be dealt - doesn't make sense to spend cap dollars on him
Schultz's confidence is shot - lot of teams feel they can re-discover him - $3.9 mil qualifying offer
Some teams might have luke warm interest in Ehrhoff if they can send a contract back to LA
Kings would be interested in Hamhuis or Russell
Problem is Hamhuis or Russell are not on the market yet - Flames and Russell are in limbo, Hamhuis has a full NTC

Staal has full NMC/NTC - is going to sit and wait.
Has the option to decide to stick the Canes or move to a team of his choosing.

Also keys to Chicago: Hjalmarsson, Seabrook, Hossa, Panarin
Also keys to Calgary: Bennett, Gio, Hamilton
Basically Chicago is a little more skilled up front. LA is bigger and tougher up front. I like both models.
We lack a Hjalmarsson. Frolik is like a poor man's Hossa. Gaudreau is similar to Kane and Panarin but they have two of those guys and we have one.
We've got some nice pieces, need a couple more.

With Hamhuis taken off the market, Russell is the best available defenseman this deadline day:
http://www.tsn.ca/benning-no-plans-t...dline-1.436777
I think this means Russell should yield at least a 2nd round pick. I wonder if Wideman gets traded too, given the market

What contract can we send to LA for Ehrhoff?
Then trade Russell.

That's good news for the Flames

Good God, he's dumb. They have no chance of winning anything. Reminds me so much of the Flames from 2010-2013.

Well the Canucks do have a fairly young line up. He probably wants to give his young core some playoff experience

I'd only consider taking Ehrhoff if the Flames are going to move at least 2 defencemen. If Russell is the only player going out, I'd rather give that ice time to Nakladal or Wotherspoon to see where/if they fit.
LA might have some interest in Shore because of his brother, but I'd want more than a salary dump in Ehrhoff in return for him. Ehrhoff & a pick for Shore, maybe?

he also said he's gotten zero calls on Hamhuis, when the other day a bunch of people reported at least a few teams were interested
he cant come out and say before the actual deadline that they are selling or want to sell, no GM would do that

Well you couldn't be more wrong. The Oilers just did exactly that! Oh wait, you probably meant no good GM would do that, which you would be correct about. Weird, almost like that makes the Oilers = no good, or something.

Let's say the Flames squire a late first in a Hudler and or Russell swap. The flames end up a pick around the 7-10. Do you trade our pick and the late first to move to 2 or 3 if it's a possibility ?
I do it. I literally salivate at the though of putting Laind opposite of Gaudreau and would pay a lot to draft him.

Would need more than a late 1st to move up. Who does this anymore?

3 of our 5 possible trade assets are out at the moment
Hudler
Jones
Ramo
Wideman
Russell
I'm starting to get a little impatient...
At this point, I doubt they can/will trade Hiller

Cheap veteran to eat up some minutes with an bigger window toward extension if they like enough of what they see? I wouldn't hate it, I'd rather we bring up Kulak and get some NHL reps for him with an eye towards having him on the club next year but Bob would probably give him next to nothing in terms of ice time so I dunno.

Yeah... but it's the three that were unlikely to return much (or really anything) so at least that's something.
