If it's picks, it better be LA's first, because that's going to be practically a 2nd.

I bet you 1000000 dollars that if it's picks from L.A. it's not LA's first...

My personal guess is that Russell may feasibly sign for 3-4 mil with us (He makes 2.6 now, he's not going to be lower or sign for the same amount IMO) but it may come with things like NMC and NTC. I'd imagine Treliving wouldn't want to give him more than 3-4 years either on a contract like that. Essentially another Raymond or Smid or Engelland money and term contract.
For other teams, I'm imagining a 4-5 mil contract signed at around 3-5 years.

Please, please, please, don't let him get signed to a 5 x $5m deal.
Jeff Petry? Plays in the east against smaller and slighter forwards than the ones Russell plays every night. Would be a massive overpayment to sign him to that deal. What happens if Andersson and/or Kylington develop into 2nd pairing guys? What happens if we draft a high defencemen in June that will probably turn into a top 4 defencemen?
Do not sign Kris Russell to that term or that cap hit. It will be a boat anchor contract in 2 years time I reckon.

And here I thought that 3.5-4 would be too much. That's going to be the worst contract in the NHL if someone signs that.
I have never been so happy that Dennis Wideman is there to prevent this from happening.

L.A. traded their 1st round pick for a few games from Sekera, what a dumb trade that was.

i wanted to re-sign russel but hell no at that price. If they do i will have lost faith in management after we already have so many dead weight contracts.

Kris Russel is not a bargain at 2.6, he's pretty much worth exactly that as a player.
I do think there is value in having veterans in the locker room to help teach young guys how to be pros, not just how to play, but the ins and outs of being a pro athlete, in that sense I'd be willing to offer as much as 3 million a year to Russel. Anything more than that and I would rather the flames lose him for nothing. Obviously I'd prefer a trade, but If no trades show up, let him walk.

If I wanted to re-sign Russel (which I don't) $3.5 million would be the absolute max.

It doesn't have to be their 1st, I would take Valentin Zykov as a return.

Haha, if the stats aren't extreme enough just mess with the scale until it looks dramatic.

Excited to see the return when we trade him, if that's how much money he'll be worth.

I guess he's doing okay in the AHL this year. I'd do that.
