I like Bishop but my only hesitation is he makes 6 million and only has a year left. Could he leave or demand even more money? Some definite risk there. Espeically if you're giving up quality assets.

Agreed that is why I want to sneak Drouin in the deal so the Flames can add a long term asset if Bishop only ends up being a 1 year guy

 Posted the 6 millionth post!

Bishop and Drouin is going to cost you a pretty penny. I don't know if we have the assets to get a package like that, I doubt Tampa would want an expiring Hudler and Russell.
Once again, I think we're in a position where we need to get a reclamation project (those don't usually go well), or try and steal away an up-and-coming #1. Honestly, I think the best of both would be Raanta.

Well to be fair, if they did have any value it wouldn't be a buyer's market and we'd be in tough to land a better option for cheap. I'll take this tradeoff.

I'd like to see a Andersen for Ramo(or Hiller) + deal
Andersen is still young, is good, and can be a viable NHL starters for a years to come...
Certainly an improvement over Ramo imo...
hopefully Gillies, McDonald or Ortio develop into something, but we need a solid G for the next few years.

Flames are paying $8.3M for their goalies this year. You could get Howard and then some cheap back-up and still save money from what's being paid this year.

Powerplay Quarterback

I guess I read that a bit differently. Flames are prime goalie sellers - both short term playoff tested vets, good on your bench if you don't trust your current backup. I think any other goalie seller would be undercut by the Flames - Lindback for a second - no wait, Hillier for a fourth!
The line in that article that struck me was about Hudler - that earning less than Frolik & Hamilton is bothering him. If that is indeed the case then does that (feeling/attitude) flow down to the young guys, and if so, then no hometown discount or bridge contract there. Big concern to me and I would move him sooner rather than later.

I like Bishop but I'm not sure Drouin is worth the trouble. He seems the opposite of "Always earned; never given."

Perhaps, not the best choice of words for Friedman, but I understood his sentence regarding Calgary controlling the goalie market differently. I think he meant that "Calgary is the only team having two good quality back-up goalies to offer to any other team" and, if they decide to move one, there are teams willing to offer a good variety of what Calgary needs.

Pavelec for a third round pick. Call me, I'll email Chevy until he caves
Make this happen!

I'd do Hiller for Pavelec and a 3rd from the Jets. We do them a favor since Pavelec is still signed for another year, hence why we get a 3rd back.

Could Care Less

I think the objective should be to get a good goalie in return somehow, not more of the same + a middling draft pick.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I'm one of the few that likes Ramo, but even I think it might be time to wash their hands of both Hiller & Ramo and start anew next year with a free agent and maybe Ortio backing them up.

I expect it will be addressed at the draft where the majority of big trades happen. I actually don't care who they bring in as long as their names aren't Hiller and Ramo.

I thought we were riding with Gillies next year. Does he need more seasoning because of the injury? I would rather have the money spent elsewhere. Also, I wouldn't give up on Ortio yet.

He's going to need at least a full season in the AHL next season at the very least. His injury basically adds an extra season of development he's going to need.

Yeah Gillies probably needs at least 1-3 years in the minors. He's not an option yet.
