this is not a player going bat#### crazy losing it on a ref for a bad call ect.
Any lengthy suspension for abuse of official in the past has been just that

Based on the video evidence, I would suggest that it is very difficult to argue that it was not deliberate. Besides the point that he hit an official, I think you are hard pressed to make the case that Wideman wasn't deliberately delivering a cross-check. I think that works heavily against him.

some people may have
It's a divisive issue, and everyone has the right to their own opinions, regardless of whether I agree with this. I've made my points, I've provided my evidence, and I'll wait for further comment.

That linesman was super annoying all game. I'm glad that he got cross checked. He broke up whole bunch of plays with his getting in the way.

I think it depends if he's concussed or not.. if he's not.. I think he will be fined.
(Only excuse I can think of for why he would do that... )

Uhhh, that was a situation with very dangerous potential, from a much bigger player to an unsuspecting opponent. Say what you will about discipline, but... really?

I suggest the Flames should use this opportunity to cancel Wideman's contract for gross misconduct with immediate effect and get the league to agree that there will be no cap penalties because of the nature of the incident.

I swear everyone who think's it's intentional thinks it because of the follow through.
As I said earlier, you're always going to have a follow through on a braced collision on ice...
If he followed through with strength the ref would of damn near flipped.
Also he's putting his stick in his other hand getting ready for to go through the door, it just happens at that second he had both hands on it and when you react that fast last thing you're doing is....thinking.
I'm sorry but to me if you use science and a basic understanding of kinesiology it's easy to see that it's an accident. If he gets suspended, that's another story.

I do know one thing. That linesman will never step to Wideman again.

Dennis Wideman breaks the internet for all the wrong reasons.
Hartley in his post game comments through his support behind Wides - but said he did not see the collision.

No? Are you prepared to argue that the linesman was at fault for being on the receiving end of a cross-check?

The play was up ice. Three officials would not have seen it, and unless Henderson has eyes in the back of his head, he wouldn't have known what hit him.
Wideman might find a way out of this, but the lack of a game misconduct does not stand as evidence that it won't be a big deal.
