I tend to agree. However, I also think that intentional or not, Wideman should be suspended.
You just can't cross-check a linesman, even if you don't realise you are cross-checking a linesman.

Accidental or not that was reckless and it resulted in a ref getting hit in the numbers near the boards.
Wideman is responsible for himself when he is on the ice. The same way a player is responsible for his stick and avoiding the head on contact.
I don't buy the dazed excuse. I am sure he was a bit dazed after the hit. But he was fine 2 seconds after sitting on the bench and he finished out the game.
Personally I don't see a suspension coming. He isn't a dirty player, there was no resulting injury, and he was hit prior to the incident. But I do believe it was reckless.

The league takes deliberate abuse of officials very seriously. If the NHL decides that was deliberate, Wideman is gone for a long time.

The NHL also has two dedicated "concussion spotters" at each arena for each game.
Maybe he wasn't groggy, Wideman once slipped during a penalty shot and landing on his own butt, he might not have been paying attention at all vs seeing fuzzy.

The most shocking part of the whole thing is how one poster can have 37+ posts in a 4-page thread. I can't imagine having 37 posts in 2 weeks, never mind 1 thread in 1 hour. WTF

That can't be a justification.

Well the officials didn't even kick him out of the game so long suspension is not happening

So the linesman doesn't have to pay attention to his surroundings but Wideman does?

If it wasn't intentional they can't suspend. It has to be "deliberate".

You're all a bunch of idiots for disagreeing with my opinion.
Also, I hate poster X, Y, and Z and disagree with them because they had another argument with me in a different thread or on a different forum.
#Greentext: I'm really clever. (because I can't figure out how to add colour to a post)

I had to watch this over and over, the brief clip in this thread does not tell the whole story.
The Video:
-Wideman gets hit hard into the boards
-He's clearly woozy as he heads to the bench and does a sort of hit his stick on the ice to make sure they know he's coming to the bench, its an odd way he does it though
-As soon as he gets to the linesman, he suddenly reacts and while it is not a purely defensive move, it also appears to be reacting out of surprise or urgency
-On the bench he looks out of it for a while
The Refs:
-Choose not to issue a penalty
The Circumstances:
-Unless something happened in the game where Wideman had a reason to be angry with the officials, it doesn't make any sense that he would have done this intentionally
-Wideman is not one with a reputation of anything like this.
The Result:
Who knows. Its hard to reconcile what happened.

Lifetime Suspension

According to cbssports.com, the last player suspended for abuse of official was Daniel Carcillo and he got 10 games. Not sure if there was a penalty on the play. It was determined to be intentional in that case, and I don't think he got a misconduct.
EDIT. just looked it up, Carcillo was given a game misconduct and his suspension was category II. He shoved the ref on the way to the penalty box
