I PMd zero. I also had a plan to propose we cc eachother on our plays to girly and then cancel mine afterwards. As I told you in our thread I had no intention of ever playing a puck and was willing to accept the downside risk of another team tieing and a deathmatch

Yes, we would have played pucks.

The problem is with you and HG on different sides, the optimal play is to ensure that you both got Gios. The only way to ensure that is to not play any pucks.

So we avoided playing pucks until it was obvious that you actually were playing them.

If you and HG, or Bizaro and myself, were on the same team, the best play would ensure your teams win while spending the least number of pucks. We would be able to ensure one of us had the most by having the other player pay some of their pucks, masking how many the 3rd player thought they were safe playing.

I don't disagree with this. The way it happened to work out with groups of two meant that the prisoner's dilemma was too strong.

I can't say what would have happened if you and HG were on the same team and Rathji and I were opposites. The 'play no pucks' and either you or your partner wins didn't occur to me until I saw HG NOT pick you, which seemed counter-intuitive. After noticing something that didn't make sense, the reason he would have done that was apparent.

I will say that if Rathji and I were on opposite teams and I had thought of it, I wouldn't have hesitated to use that maneuver, it was objectively the strongest strategy, imo.

I'm fine either way - play it out or not. Ultimately if we play it out mrkajz and squiggs each have a 50/50 shot of being in the deathmatch (and presuming one wouldn't pick the other) everyone else has a 25% chance of being in the deathmatch. If we start something new everyone will have a 1/3 chance of deathmatch, which isn't that different.

That's a good point that death match odds don't substantively change by playing it out.

I definitely yak my share of the responsibility on wrecking this game though.

HELLO!!!

We will re-begin Round 10 of CP The Genius.

GP_Matt was eliminated in Round 9 (again!) and now there are 6 players remaining.

Gaudreau Count
squiggs96 has 37
HockeyGuy15 has 30
GGG has 30
Bizaro86 has 24
Rathji has 24
mrkajz44 has 9

Total 154

The NEW 10th Main Match is

MINUS AUCTION

In this game, only minus numbers will be put up for auction and the player with the best minus total will be the winner (best minus total meaning -3 is better than -10)

Number cubes ranging from -3 to -35 will be auctioned. The order of play will be decided by drawing lots.

Everyone will receive 10 chips for use in the auction and these chips will be used when declining a number.

The minus cubes will be drawn randomly and put up for auction one at a time. When the first number is drawn, the first player has one of two choices. Take that number or throw 1 chip (or 1 Gaudreau) into the pot. If he declines, the decision goes to player #2 and so on. When a player takes a number, he also gets whatever chips or Gaudreaus are in the pot. Also when a player takes a number, a new random number will be drawn and the purchasing choice starts with that player.

Taken cubes by each player will be displayed for all to see.

When all the auctioned cubes are auctioned off, your equation will be calculated as follows: The minus numbers will be added up and each chip is +1

For example if you have -3 -5 -12 -14 and 6 chips left your score is -28
Gaudreaus can be used to decline a number but will not be used in the equation.

However, if you took consecutive minus numbers only the best one counts. For example if you took -6 -7 -8 and -13, the -7 and -8 are thrown out and only the -6 remains. Your score would be -19. By using this, you could minimize your minus score even after taking many of them.

However, there is something you also must be careful off. Before the auction begins, one of the numbers between -3 and -35 will be taken out of play and not be available for auction. It will not be revealed until the auction ends.

Winning Conditions
Player with the best minus score will receive 10 Gaudreaus and 2 Gios
Player with the worst minus score will be the elimination candidate.

Blocks or chips cannot be given/traded. Gaudreaus can be given/traded.

If there are any questions ask in this thread

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. I would have to evaluate differently, but I would have to play normally. In the situation you described, I could be sure that my teammates were playing for a team win, and that would be the difference.

I like this game

Can blocks be traded amongst the players? Or are you stuck with what you take?

Is there a maximum/minimum amount of numbers you have to use in your equation?

Blocks or chips cannot be given/traded. Gaudreaus can be given/traded. I'll add that in.

How is the order determined? I'm assuming the order will "slide" where whoever went first in the first round, will be bumped to spot two in the second round, and so on? So I would always go after the same person?

Also, do we know how many numbers are up for sale? I assume there isn't one for every number between -3 and -35?

There is no slide, the first person starts then after that whoever took the number starts.

I'll take Montana.

So if I get the number (as well as the pot), I get first dibs on the next number too?

I'll take Maine.
