Ladd and Buff as rentals, maybe with some money if cap doesn't work. It might need some balancing, but as the core of a trade it makes sense to me. Two cup winners on expiring contracts motivated to get big contracts in free agency, for a guy that wants to play in Winnipeg and would solidify Jets defence.
Isles are in win now mode. Might be worth it.

I can't see them giving up Hamonic for a couple months of those guys. Hamonic is under contract moving forward and that's what the Isles would want, something that helps them now but they still have to think of the future too. They're going to want at least one player who's young and can make a difference on the team now and could be what they had in Hamonic.

I thought I read somewhere they broke off contract talks with Ladd to focus on resigning Buff?

No, there was an article I read - yesterday? - maybe, that said the same thing. It suggested they are trying to keep Buff and move Ladd.

James Mirtle @mirtle
Ducks put Clendening on waivers.
Quite the year for him:
2015-Jan-29 Traded from Chicago Blackhawks to Vancouver Canucks for Gustav Forsling
2015-Jul-28 Traded from Vancouver Canucks with Nick Bonino and round 2 pick in the 2016 draft to Pittsburgh Penguins for Brandon Sutter and round 3 pick in the 2016 draft
2016-Jan-15 Traded from Pittsburgh Penguins with David Perron to Anaheim Ducks for Carl Hagelin

Why even trade for him at all? Bob Murray surely can't afford to be making trade errors right now.
So Hagelin for Perron it is now? Just terrible.

I don't think you get how NHL roster management happens. Do you really think they suddenly soured on him after acquiring him?
MY bet is they saw some value in him as depth if they could sneak him through waivers.

Hagelin had 4 goals in 43 games. He was on pace for 8 goals and under 25 points while having a long-term contract making 4M. This looked like a trade where the Ducks just wanted to get out of Hagelin's contract before it became an albatross for them.
Perron already has 3 points in 3 games with the Ducks, Hagelin has 3 points in 4 with the Penguins. Seems like the start of a solid change-of-scenery trade.

There is something absolutely rotten in Anaheim, and if I had to guess I'd say Kesler and Bieksa are involved.

Well just look at how rotten the Nucks have been for so long. Easy for that kind of effect to carry through with players from that team, it's just now having a stranglehold effect on the Ducks. I would not be surprised if it has something to do with Kesler or Kieksa either.

I said it that cay he signed it, I was shocked Anaheim gave Kesler that contract. He had a full year left till he was UFA. What was the rush?

Taking a while to get to 5000

That dressing room must be toxic these days. You welcome in guys from a poor culture like Bieksa & Kessler, reward Kessler for pretty much doing nothing and bring in ex Oilers like Horcoff and now Perron. They say Getzlaf is a second behind most plays these days. Coincidentally thats about how long it takes a person to shake their head in disbelief.

I personally believe and think Getzlaf will traded before Stamkos ever gets traded. One team is gonna over pay for him. Also that will open the flood-gates for Eric Stall to get traded.

It is why Ottawa signed Bobby Ryan to that huge deal before he went UFA. When a team invests young assets in a player they trade for they want the certainty that player is going to be there more than 2 years so they get the deal done well in advance. The longer you wait on the extension the more likely a player will test the market. In both cases it resulted in huge overpriced deals

Don't. Acknowledge. The. Troll.
You'd have to think that if the Flames lose tomorrow against the preds, they'll go into sell mode early.

For the record, I've had my eye on Clendening since this:
Quote:
He made his NHL debut on November 20, 2014 and scored his first NHL goal on his first shot against Jonas Hiller of the Calgary Flames.
|
First ( and only) NHL goal scored against us when he was with the Hawks. I liked the look of him then, though I haven't seen much of him since he began his magical mystery tour of all the NHL franchises.
