Man I've been out the loop but I've been hearing chatter all day at work about it. Guess it's too late to buy a single ticket for the heck of it.
www.thelotter.com is down. Any other alternatives?

Honestly the simplest would be to just win one of the $50k prizes lol.

It has been reported time and again how many people winning $50M would go broke in two years time.
But I have a hard time imaging people winning a $1B lottery going broke anytime soon. If anything, that guy will probably die from OD before he runs out of money.

I solve that problem by not having relationships with any other people.
If I ever win the lotto max the only people that will know will be CP, and that's after I invite the forum over for a scotch tasting during a game.

I was talking to the guys at work about that, and they all said the same thing, that they would take the cash up front which I think is half.
They asked me what I would do, and I told them, if I won the Powerball, nobody that I knew would see me for about 5 years, they'd all get hand written letters from an untraceable address, and a one time wire transfer of a significant gift, with a legal agreement to sign that if they ever ask me for more money, they would have to pay back the original gift.
I would find a charity or two that I liked and donate a fairly significant amount, and publish in the paper that if I re-appear that I won't take calls from any other charity.
Then I would live the next five years completely away from the grid, and have a set annual allowance paid to me through trust.
I would go and work as a farm hand in Manitoba, a crossing guard in New Brunswick. A taxi Driver in Montreal, a house painter in Vancouver, a spit bucket guy for a low ranked heavy weight boxer, and write god awful fiction and poetry and self publish it.
Then after 5 years, when things have cooled off and I've lived away from the principle of the money, I'd go and do un-announced midnight visits to close family members and friends.
Then I'd decide if I wanted to vanish again or not.
That's if I ever won the big lottery prize.

Because if you win that much money, you're pretty much sleeping on a mattress made of girls, like Kim Jung Il.
And you can afford to throw out said mattress and replace it with a fresh one every day.

So, uh, did you bury them in a coffee can out in a random prairie field? How did you memorize the GPS co-ordinates? Did you break your flip phone in half after?

Would be worth doing if powerball got up to $3B.

- Logistics of getting each combination
- Logistics of checking and signing each ticket
- Risk of not getting the full lotto amount (splitting)
|
They did mention it but kind of glossed over it. Buying ever combination, you would single handedly raise that jackpot by about $175M.
By my math, a 3 way split would be pretty much break even, because of your own contribution. And a 4 way split would loss you around $165M.

EDIT: Just saw, 1200 dollars worth, so that's 600 tickets?

This is what I get for not checking the forum last night and missing the group buy.
So I'll be the first to ask; If you guys win could I have a million, it would really help the misses and I, plus the jackpot is so big you'd hardly miss it.

Buying the Playboy mansion (with Hef included, and I assume the bunny Harem?) might be a fun way to spend the money, and also ensure you are indeed bankrupt after a year.

Buried it in the parking lot actually. The people waiting in line were more than happy to help me dig the hole so that I could bury my tickets.
Actually, I put it in an envelope addressed to myself and left it with Montana Shipping Outlet. I use Montana Shipping Outlet quite often and they have never lost any of my stuff.
