Eric Lindros, I think you'll find the Nordiques/Avalanche got good value there.

True but some conditions were met that put that trade over the top for Tampa
The deal was St.Louis + conditional 2nd for Callahan, 1st, conditional 1st, conditional 7th.
Callahan was a rental where St.Louis had another year on his deal so rental for a player with a couple runs. The 2nd 1st was based on the Rangers making the 3rd round in the playoffs (made SCF). The Rangers got the 2nd because the Lightning signed Callahan.
If Tampa let Callahan walk it would have been St.Louis for 29th pick, another 1st. Keeping Callahan made the trade look good for Tampa because they got 2 picks and a player. The contract the Ligjtning gave Callahan was terrible though. It was a good trade at the end of the day so let's see if Stevie can pull off another one.

Well none recently..... Wait! ....... Not true almost all of the Nashville and Columbus Fan base were in favour of the Johansen/Jones Trade.

That was more of the Rangers losing that trade than the Bolts winning it... if that makes sense? Rangers gave to much for and old MSL.

Not really, you're saying the Rangers lost the trade but Tampa didn't win?
If the Rangers gave up too much for St.Louis then the Lightning got good value, sounds like a win to me.

same thing I guess?
Rangers made the trade to try and win a cup..... if they won one than it would be a win.... they didn't so they lost it. Bolts return would have been the same either way.

Yzerman is absolutely in the driver's seat here.
It is a different story if Drouin is in his 5th season and still can't make the roster. He isn't that far into his pro career (though his injury history is worrisome). It is a different story if nobody is inquiring about Drouin at all, and Yzerman has to wait for basically any offer. There are 16+ teams now apparently interested, and you have to assume that is going to drive the price up. Plus, there are scouts going specifically to watch him play in the AHL.
I would say Drouin will get a decent return. I do also think that Drouin's trade value has diminished significantly since the draft, but I do still think there are enough teams that believe he can be a game-changing type of player.

Call me crazy but a 35 point Bennett is better than a 35 point Drouin. If you have to ask why than don't bother asking.
Bennett much> Drouin

I definitely agree with that. Bennett is producing at a better rate than Drouin, while being very physical.
Also, to make it fair, can somebody tell me who Drouin got most of his points with? Yes, he has played 3rd and even 4th line minutes, but let's see who he has actually been playing with and who he has produced with. I know Tampa was trying him out on the wing with Stamkos - I just have no idea how long that trial was and how he produced there. There are also more notable scoring depth I would say on their 2nd and 3rd lines than Bennett does in Calgary.
Drouin is a good 'gamble' to pick up - he isn't a guarantee, and his injuries would concern me - but I would be on board with picking him up. I just think that with 16 teams in the bidding, Flames would have to offer too much for Drouin, and may end up regretting it a few years down the line.

In Junior it was Nathan Mackinnon
Edit: in the NHL he probably wasn't playing with Markus Granlund and Mason Raymond.

Not sure who he scored his points with, he's been with a lot of different linemates, mostly Callahan and Stamkos though.

Drouin is the new Jokinen on CP.
I hope BT drives up the price for Drouin and some other dumber GM wins the sweepstakes.

The Bolts don't get the 2nd first round pick of the Rangers lose to the Pens in the second round. The deal would have been Callahan and a 1st, 2nd for St.Louis +2nd. If Callahan walked it would have been St.Louis for 1st, 2nd.
Rangers made the final so the 2nd became a 1st and Callahan re-signed so Tampa tossed in a 2nd. There were a lot of conditions on the trade which is what I think happens if Drouin is traded

I rather have Treliving pull of a Hamilton style heist and Drouin is a Flame

So Drouin has been given every opportunity with every player on that team and still finds himself sent to the AHL and demanding a trade because he feels he isn't getting the opportunity he needs to succeed?
Yep let's throw everything we can at this guy outside of our core to get him...
No thanks.
Stay the course. Develop internally, draft wisely and steal players in trade.
Don't sell the farm to get some magic beans.

If that were to be the case, Treliving would've traded for him a month ago before anyone even knew he was available.
