Colorado makes a lot of sense. Roy has seen a lot of him at his best.
I could see a deal built around Duchene - TB would have to add, but it seems doable.

If you're rebuilding right now, you do this eleven times out of ten, imo.

Adding a cap dump will hurt the return but having said that getting rid of the $5.5M that Carle makes over the next 2 years is worth a lesser return if Tampa can keep Stamkos.

Assuming all play moderately close to their potential - any better is a bonus - in two years I wouldn't mind something like this as the foundation, coupled with the already set defence.
Gaudreau - Bennett -
Drouin - Monahan - Frolik
Bouma - Backlund -
Ferland - -
A top RW, and a starting goaltender as the obvious holes of course, plus a few utility players or prospects. Worth the risk of a player and mid-to-high pick, IMO.

Maybe. With Turris, Wheeler, and Baertschi, Treliving knows all about entitled prospects over the years. But then again guys with Drouin's skill/speed level don't come around all the time either. If I'm Brad I talk to Hartley about where the kid's all-around game is at currently and whether that's a guy Bob is willing to play on a consistent basis.

Yeah. He really came on in his draft year and was a typical late riser that got overrated. Never understood why the Lightning chose him ahead of Jones who would have addressed more of a position of need at the time for the Lightning.
Like Sven he's skilled but small and not physical and I see him at best as a complimentary forward. The fact that he's clearly got the Sven attitude of "it's not me it's you" clearly shows of a player that is entitled and not willing to accept criticism and try to make the NHL via hard work. Not nearly worth what the Lightning will likely accept in return.

Syracuse plays the Marlies in about one hour.
If Drouin doesn't dress, could be a big indicator of how much animosity there is between the Lightning and Drouin's camp right now.

Already announced that he isn't playing today.

Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman on Saturday said Drouin's assignment to the AHL was to get him playing time. Drouin will not play against the Toronto Marlies on Sunday and is scheduled to practice Tuesday, the Crunch announced.

I wouldn't be shocked if this trade comes together rather quickly. Tampa needs to get a big push to save their season and needs help now but also needs the deal to make sense long term.
I don't see the Lightning moving him in the east so that eliminates half the league. I could see the Ducks as a team with interest and assets to pull it off.

Of note with Turris, Wheeler and Baertschi, Treliving was on the side dumping those guys, not acquiring them. That would give an indication of where his head is probably at wrt Drouin. But he'll also be kicking tires, just like everyone else. If you think you can hose the Lightning, you probably take the chance anyway.
As far as Hartley and Drouin goes, I don't see that ending well. Lightning fans on Reddit are calling him a defensive liability - which is why he is getting limited ice time, p/60 be damned.

A lot of people may blame Yzerman for disgruntled players like Druin and Stamkos but it's Cooper that the players have issues with. In the case of Druin I would side with the coach as I feel the player needs to simply put more effort into getting into the coach's good books. In regards to Stamkos it's more debatable as I feel Cooper is a little bit of an oddball coach and didn't care for how he had Stamkos on the bench at key times in the playoffs last year.

One chart that pretty much sums up the Drouin situation. (fwds with >100min 5v5 but <21 yrs old)

I'd be pissed if the ducks, or any team in our div got Drouin.
People are so quick to assume they know what's going on with him.
This is a guy who outscored mackinnon on the same team, and was younger by a margin.
He still has a huge chance to be a player in this league. I think he can learn from watching Gaudreau and how he picks his spots and where to shine and use his agility and skill.
I think Drouin is still one of the most talented young players in this league and he can still hit his potential. Just needs to learn when and where to be fancy and also how to play with similar commitment everywhere. Offensive zone, d zone, neutral .
I get the Baer comparisons. I think Drouin is a way way higher caliber prospect though. If he makes it he will be a perennial all star. Sadly for him it's 1st line superstar winger or bust.

Honestly I'd give Tampa whatever they want outside of a 1st and any core players.

Duchesne cap hit is $6m and if you add carle + drouin cap hit is just over $6m. Colorado needs d as well and as has been mentioned MacKinnon - Roy -Qmjhl link. Might be a good fit
