Hudler for Drouin, but it has to happen now to make sense

Can he play the right side? Will be interesting to see where he lands. Not too sure what the Flames could offer up outside of the big 5, but I'd be interested if the right deal came along.

St.Louis, Drouin, and it looks like Stamkos is unhappy there and won't return.

Is something poison in the Tampa Bay organization? Or are they right to not give special treatment to high profile names and it's getting them in trouble.

Makes you appreciate Bennett, eh? The kid has not said a single word about how much or how little ice time he gets, lack of PP time, etc, etc. He is willing to do whatever it takes to learn how to play the NHL game. And it certainly seems to be working.

Always beware 20 year olds who request trades.

Its a risk to go after a guy like this, but it may also be a risk worth taking as his talent appears undeniable. If he was a natural RW'er it would almost be a no-brainer for Treliving to go after. As a LW he just isn't a fit right now.

Going to be interesting to see what he garners in a deal.

It's almost like Hartley is a good coach and he knows how to develop players

I wonder how much Yzerman regrets not taking Seth Jones or Monahan or Lindholm now.

I'd love to see Treliving rattle off some sort of block buster multi player trade with Yzerman.

Coburn and Carle have pretty much become bottom pairing Dmen for the Bolts, and either of them could use a change of scenery, and would really round out our top 4 D-core nicely IMO. Maybe they'd be interested in a cheaper, yet capable bottom pairing D-man in exchange? Hello Engelland or Smid?

Not sure if they are ready to give Vailevskiy the full time goalie gig yet, but boy would Big Ben Bishop look fantastic in a Flames uni.

Not sure if I'd want them to bring in an entitled brat (if that's what Drouin is) but if they think he can get on track, he would sure be a sweet addition of young skill to already solid young core.

Gaudreau - Monahan
J. Drouin - Bennett

Giordano - Brodie
Coburn - Hamilton

Bishop

That works for me going forward.

Would love for the Flames to get in on this. The team needs one more forward with elite potential to really be set up for contender status in a couple years.

Gaudreau-Monahan
Drouin-Bennett

This plus our top 3 D the Flames just need a goalie and the window opens wide.

Hudler, Porier, 2nd

This can't be true. Glenn Healy and Damien Cox assured me Drouin would make Stamkos a 70 goal player.

All of these star/high profile players seemingly wanting out of TB makes you wonder if we will see this all again next year when Hedman enters the final year of his current contract, and is set to go UFA at just 26 years old.

The Flames cannot do what Tampa did which is sign their young players to long term deals out of elc but not buy UFA years. Stamkos UFA at 25 and Hedmen could be at 26. Monahan and Gaudreau either need bridge deals that leave them at rfa status after the contract or we max out the term and buy a few UFA seasons having their contracts expire at 29 and 30.

Gotta think Colorado would at least be interested in reuniting MacKinnon with Drouin.

Joe Yerdon @JoeYerdon
Looking at the deals for Niederreiter and Turris, you're basically looking at a roster player and a not-first-round pick.

haven't really followed him and Tampa this season to be honest, but what's the "untenable" situation exactly? The kid has played 89 NHL games in his career and has had only two very short AHL stints I believe, so what's the problem? That Cooper and the Lightning make him earn the ice-time instead of just giving it to him? Sorry kid. Not every team is like Edmonton.

In terms of pure potential, I'd say great, let's try to get him. But a young winger on the smallish side with apparent entitlement issues ... didn't we just trade one of those?

I think Yzerman, given his whole career with one team, and, having ups and downs in Detroit in the mid 90's but himself and the team sticking with it, is a bit old school in his approach with dealing with players and contracts as a GM. That means not jumping right away when a player (or agent) start complaining about ice time, or the coach, or sniveling because he didn't pick you as a token sentimental Olympic pick.
