I hate to wish ill will on a person, but I'm kind of vindictive that way. Here's hoping that he chokes on the phallic object from a greek statue that falls on him when he's in a museum.
There are all types of this scam out there. I'd be pissed and vindictive too. All because he couldn't try and do it himself.
Honestly, I'd be way to embarrassed to ask anyone but my immediate family for money if I was that "hard up."
I understand that not everyone has family to help them, but to have zero shame and not even edit the post on other forums is lazy.
He didn't even spend a dime on hookers and blow. He got engaged with the money. That's called a double dbag.
If this comes to actually be something - I will donate $100 for every CP deal I do in 2016.
Just an idea - saving our donations all year and sending as many kids from the childrens hospital as possible to a game next year
If you want to do something like that, you might want to look into Kids Up Front. I know they give tickets to various events to kids in many different programs (schools for children with special needs, families in poverty, etc.).
I'm still looking for what people have as proof for him being a scammer?
So he went to the gym AND had a gatorade. He got engaged. Perhaps his parents paid for the ring, was a family heirloom, or otherwise? And copy/pasting to another forum...so what?
The gist I see is people are angry this guy isn't as poor as he lead on. They wanted to feel like they were making a difference but perhaps weren't as much as they thought.

since several posts have mentioned pimking in an unflattering light, i did want to post and say that he emailed me a response that i have forwarded to the mods to do with as they please.
on topic: how about to turn things around we talk about nice things this community has done for each other??? several years back russic mailed me his copy of rock band 1 so i could import the songs into rock band 2. saved me like 40 bucks! plus it got me his mailing address so i could stalk him whenever i wanted!

I just skimmed through all 15 pages of that thread. What a terrible development. I remember how apprehensive I felt asking here to support my Ride To Conquer Cancer. I couldn't imagine having the onions to ask for personal funding and then embellish my problems.
Trust is such a hard thing to earn back. I hope this didn't jade too many people, although I wouldn't blame them.

Wow, I had no idea this happened, what a depressing end to the year.
It is very difficult for those who want to help others in need. If you donate to a large charity your money is spend on overheads/management salaries before going to the needy yet if you try and cut out the middle man you are susceptible to these types of scams.

If you don't see it, then you stopped reading after the 3rd post. I could link to multiple posts in the thread, including posts where other people on other forums call him out, but they are all there for you to read. The biggest one is that he set up 3 different go fund me pages, under separate versions of his name, and then claimed he had no idea how to set one up. These are only the three I can find. There may be more. He even has multiple accounts on another forum where he asks for money. His response was to flee and delete evidence. That's not something an innocent person would do. If that doesn't show you something was odd, then you're fooling yourself or being ignorant to the facts. I don't get how you can defend him here, especially when he won't defend himself.

I think I donated 20 or 30 bucks to him in the original thread. Not a lot to anyone who makes a good income. I was unaware that PIMKING had started other Gofundme initiatives on this page. I was quite skeptical of the guy but even so, I know times are hard in the USA, especially in the South-East, so I thought, why not pass a bit of my wealth to the guy. When he followed up with his post about buying IKEA furniture, I knew the guy was a) a moron and b) probably a swindler. No one down on their luck buys new furniture.
That said, it is great we all chipped in. It is just sad that this guy bilked the community for $8000 CAD when that money could have gone to real charities.
In the future, only give to registered charities and perhaps all calls for support should be mod approved before being posted.

It is likely that the guy was using a community in which he belonged with a culture of generocity in order to manipulate that to fulfilling his own desires and needs. I have always sort of disliked him as a poster, mostly because every single problem was the result of someone else doing something unjust towards him and he played the victim incredibly well (his girlfriend cheated on him, his boss was a jerk, his new employees did something, etc, etc) I just found it to be a very offputting appraoch to life. Then when he was talking about how he needed new furniture and the like, I found that to be awfully irritating, not that I have ever been poor per say but if I was one step away from homelessness relying on the generocity of strangers, I don't think that I would be going out and buying much of anything that wasn't an essential and things like a new mattress and furniture are not essentials. Use kijiji or whatever the Florida version is for that.
Ultimately though, I don't know if it was a scam or really serves as evidence that you can't pay someone out of poverty, there is a reason they are poor and crap choices are a big part of that reason... and this guy had plenty of them. None of which he would admit to.
