Treliving should atleast be making a call to see what the ask is. I'm sure he's done that already knowing him....multiple times.

What is so wrong with Johansen that you are comparing him to Kassian? Bush league post. He has issues in his own end? I regularly watch CBJ games over past couple of years because of this guy and he is by far easily the best player on their team on most nights. Yes he has his struggles in his own zone sometimes and gets called out for work ethic but those issues are WAY WAY overblown. At this point, there have been multiple other players as bad as Johansen this year or worse, but Torts has picked Johansen to be the scapegoat. He hasn't benched anyone else, but has scratched Hartnell once.
And because of his inconsistency, you compare RJO to a scumbag dude who has substance abuse issues clearly (scumbag and substance abuse issues being exclusive). Very bush league.
EDIT:
Now you just put him on blast and compared him to a worse version than Taylor Hall. Clearly, you have no ####ing clue what you are talking about or anything about this situation. Please stop now.

Forgive me if I come off as not taking your post very seriously but I'm not even going to bother arguing with someone who appears to ne the president of the Ryan Johansen fan club.

Question asked, question answered, I guess. Plus, Johansen's issues (until this thing with Torts) mainly seem to be contract related and maybe people figure that a better negotiator like Treliving will make him a happy camper.
I do admit, some posters always think their own coach will cure the attitude problems of other guys. This almost never is the case.

No you clearly don't have a clue about the player, but please list his issues...you make accusations and claims but have nothing to back them up so I had to guess what you might think his issues are.
He doesn't seem like he wants to play in Columbus? Would you want to play in Columbus? Did Jeff Carter want to play in Columbus? Yeah.....makes RJO a real trash guy right.....
Columbus and its management have consistently had issues with high skill players....Nash, Brassard, Gaborik, Voracek, Carter...and now Johansen.

Don't think this is a fair comparison. A middling, notorious NHLer with a now public addiction issue and overall general trainwreck. VS:
A top centre who may be out of shape and wants top dollar and supposedly has motivation and work ethic issues.
You can fix bad nutrition, motivation with the right kind of guidance (Not Torts).
As for Hall based on some stories I've heard about their times in junior, he had more in common with Kassian than Johansen does.

The "out of shape" rumors are BS. Torts came in and put him on full blast right away. Turns out the guy was extremely sick, was sent home from the team's road trip, missed the next 2 games and was hospitalized for the next few days.....made Torts look like the ####### that he is.

I'm sorry but I don't believe it's any more difficult to cure drinking issues (many, many success stories) than it is to cure entitlement and laziness issues. How has Phil Kessel done on another team? How many teams thought they could motivate Dustin Penner? Or even how did Sven Baertschi far with the Canucks because we all know it was the Flames holding him back? It's pretty clear fans get attached to players and are always willing to blame the head coach or organization for not handling them properly when the truth is some players don't get it and some never will.

Ryan Johansen is being compared to Zack Kassian? Come on. Get a hold of yourself. One of these things is not like the other. Player #1: 63 and 71 point seasons consecutively.
Player #2: 121 and 81 PIM seasons in a row. Can't even compare points because one player is a 4th line goon-ish winger and the other is a #1/2 center.

How has Phil Kessel done on another team?....let me reply by asking...How has Sidney Crosby done this year? How has Patric Hornqvist done this year?
You do realize that Johansen still has 22 points this year in 28 games even after being benched by Torts, dropped to 4th line, minutes screwed around with.......and after that he goes on a 3 game pointless "slump"...the world is ending.
You bringing up Penner and Baertschi....and then comparing them to RJO just makes you look very dumb. You might think you know the details of these player's situations but it's so easy to tell that you just are spouting what the mass media puts out every few days.

Wow, Torts really is an ass sometimes.
And fans have a tendency to be unable to accept when a player is slumping and snake-bit and just assume he's checked out and doesn't care. You'll get the type who watch post-game interviews and analyze his tone of voice and say he doesn't care enough. "Care" level is nearly impossible for a fan to know anyway. I haven't actually seen anything from the media that suggests he does have these issues, they seem to be coming from the fan side.
His stats this year are not even that bad. It's not like he's pulling a Getzlaf.

The thing is with Johansen is that despite all this negative press about laziness, fitness, entitlement he's backed it up with his production. They won't find another centre with his skillset and overall package for another 10 years.
So I mean if the Flames are actually in on this sure I'd be interested. He is trending up, and wouldn't be the most talented player on this team or expected to carry the load.

I'm surprised someone that claims to know so much about Johanson would forget just last season the team was unhappy with his conditioning. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here as we all have brain farts from time to time.

The guy had 22 POINTS in 28 GAMES before this recent 3 game pointless streak....and thats AFTER getting treated like a pile of dog crap from the joke that is Torterella.....and people post on the internet that he has character issues? what a joke.

Yeah so out of shape.....goes on to have a 71 point season, is the all star of the team. I'd rather have an out of shape 71 point, 22 year old player on my team rather than a fitness warrior who can barely make the NHL team as a bottom 6 player.
Fitness, although important, is vastly overblown these days in the NHL when it comes to a per-individual basis. Fitness on a whole team aspect though is very important.

Is this thread the beginning of more comic relief we can expect from you?

As I proved the rumours are not BS. Don't come on here pretending to be a know it all and then when you are called out on it start moving the goal posts. We can agree to disagree here but don't start calling people out for not knowing anything when you can't even get your own facts straight.

Did a hashtag just get used non-ironically?
Any way that this pans out, Columbus is not going to get full value for RyJo. In a vacuum, his value would be hovering around the Seth Jones mark, but being driven out of town puts him firmly in 2 good asset territory. 2 (5M) level players as opposed to 1 (7.5M) player.
Or, like a comet hitting the moon, Torts will inspire him to great new heights by treating him badly, and he'll stay.
Edit : Just went back and read some of the back and forth. Don't want to get in the middle of that. #KlattuBarataNikto

He's an out of shape plug that deserves to sit even though he's the #1 C on the team.
