Ever since playing Tie Fighter as a kid and becoming best buds with the Emperor, I've always thought of The Empire as the good guys.
I mean, besides blowing up Alderaan, did they do anything so bad?
Not if you ignore the Rebel propaganda.
Palpatine bought peace and security to the galaxy while abolishing a clearly corrupt senate.
The Alderaan incident was a tragedy, but Bail Organa was an ardent supporter of the rebels, and that's without dispute, and his daughter was a traitor smuggling military secrets to the rebels. The whole "We're a peaceful planet" line was the biggest lie when two of the biggest supporters of the rebellion were clearly based on Alderaan.
And how do we know that the death star destroyed the planet. I mean history is written by the victors. I tend to think that the Rebels were hiding weapons of mass destruction on the planet and had a horrible accident, but we'll never know now.

You know, I don't know why anyone bothers with watching the vanilla sequels anymore. Just watch the fan recut versions with no Jar Jar, etc call "The Last Turn to the Dark Side". Much more satisfying.

Reminds me of this "truthers"
Some of the comments are priceless, like the fake flame war between two commentators.

Oh yeah, after reading those two contrarian pieces, I am totally on board with the Empire. Even Order 66 starts looking like the French Revolution when you consider that the Jedi were pompous aristocrats, and the Sith were liberal meritocrats.

Cracked.com had a pretty funny column on the 5 reasons why the Dark Side aren't the bad guys.

Finished up the trilogy last night with Return of the Jedi. I watched them episode 1-6 order. If I could go back I would do the 4-5-2-3-6 order. Episode one is not a good movie and it is a terrible Star Wars movie. It is boring and adds nothing to the overall story. I honestly can't say I liked any of the prequels. The third one was the best of the three, but still mediocre.
I have the Blu-rays of the original trilogy and, for the most part, they look great. Well, except for the garbage cgi added later by Lucas. Most of the time it is distracting and completely unnecessary. A 5 second shot of the exterior of Jabbas palace? Better add a creature in the foreground doing something stupid or the audience might get bored and stop watching. That's how a lot of the prequels felt to me, just a barrage of poorly thought out cgi.
jking they were horrible, I will watch 3 though before I go see 7, just cause.
