Good call on skipping #1. I'm still having Jar Jar and pod racing nightmares from that atrocity.
#3 is by far the best of the prequels. You could probably re-shoot 30 minutes of that movie and change the dialogue and end up with a good movie in the end. The other two are just hopeless from start to finish.
I finished rewatching TCW's last week, and I'm caught up to the christmas break on Rebels which has really become solid.
Now I have to wait three weeks to see this thing.
E10 is Rebels xmas break episode? Bah. They really need to crank up the Ashoka quota for this series. I'm sure the remaining bit of the series will likely focus more on the closure between Tano and Vader but they've really been sparce with her so far. She was so bad-ass against the inquisitors and then she's just gone the episode following that? Need a bit of follow up there.
I've re-watching the clone wars but after you watch the long drawn out final season of the show, I've just closed it off.
Man my DVR has a hard time picking up Rebels on the schedule. Luckily it has been available on demand, but i never know when there has been a new episode.
Yeah they moved it to channel 188 on shaw and didn't label them as new. Lucky I caught that.
I watched an interview with Filioni that talks about the last half of the season, and they did hint at the confrontation that everyone is waiting for, which means Ashoka versus Vader.
It was funny watching Ashoka against the Inquisitors, she basically didn't have much problems with them. It just goes to show that the Inquisitors are probably Padawan level at best, even the Grand Inquisitor had struggles agaisnt Kanaan who never achieved his Jedi Knight trial.
Basically the Inquisitors might be strong in the Force but they aren't trained beyond what they need, and would never be a threat to a true Jedi Knight or Sith Lord.
Ashoka versus Vader can only work in one possible way. She has to confirm that he is Anakin (I think she knows it deep down), she has to be slaughtered by Vader not spared.

I have a feeling she goes the way of the Dodo by the Emporer, I envision the exact scenario that Luke went through at the end of Jedi, but Vaders ties to Ashoka aren't as strong and the Emporer lays her out with the old lightning fingers.
But how she gets captured is an epic lightsaber battle with Ashoka, so theres that at t least.
Dave Filoni talked about Vader when the series first started, he mentioned that we wouldn't see a lot of him because at this point he's at the height of his rage, and hatred and is fearful of looking at his past decisions and is more concerned with wiping them out.
In other words if Vader was a regular series member as the key villain that the series would be about 3 shows long and then over as Vader would have destroyed everything in its wake.
Because of these emotions right now Vader is a guy who has absolutely no mercy at all, there will be no hesitation, even when he confronts Ashoka, he might goad her and gloat. But he's not going to call her Snips and beg for forgiveness, he's going to weaken her because of her attachment and respect and love for Anakin Skywalker, but he won't hesitate in killing her. His justification is that she knew that this was going to end in her death, he wasn't chasing her, she should have stayed aware, but because she came back she's a threat.
I think Vader does the killing, I don't know how we're going to handle it, because I don't think Rebels has the flexibility in handling death that the Clone Wars had. Remember we saw some pretty brutal acts of violence in the Clone Wars with a lot of emotion.
With Rebels I doubt we'll see a cowering Ashoka on her knees holding her stump of an arm as Vader rears back to behead her.
I also think that while Ashoka is strong in the force and could be considered a Jedi Knight by now. Vader at this point is going to be a storm in the force, its not going to be a match up that is even. Vader is going to play with her for a while. Then drop the father moment on her with "Yes Ashoka, its me" then when she realizes that all is lost he'll kill her.
By the way in the book Dark Lord the Rise of Darth Vader. He drops the bomb on a Jedi Knight that he's dueling in an incredibly devastating manner. He's already beaten the knight, the fight is over, and Vader basically uses it to taunt him.
Basically the Jedi Knight asks Vader if Palpatine knows what he's gotten into by siding with a Sith Lord (The average Jedi didn't know that Palpatine was a Sith). Vader basically laughs and says that The Emperor couldn't be more pleased with the arrangement.
The the Knight Shryne asks how he got to be the monstrosity that he was, and Vader said that it was his fault with the help of Obi Wan Kenobi.
Then Shryne clues in and asks if he's a fallen Jedi, like Dooku one of the lost 20 and Vader basically said, I'm the 21st surely you've heard of Anakin Skywalker the choosen one.
then he reveals that his master Palpatine will complete his Sith training.
And for Shyrne all the blocks fall into place and he realizes how ignorant the Jedi were and how complete Palpatines betrayal was.
He then has a vision of Endor with Vader in the middle of it and dies knowing pretty much failure.

BTW sadly its not Canon anymore even though it was part of a three part series with Revenge of the Sith and Labyrinth of evil.
But if you want to read a book where you get a great sense of the journey from Anakin to Vader that happens after Anakin is jammed in the suit. Dark Lord is a terrific read from Vaders perspective that also really gets to the heart of Sidious.
One of my favorite Star Wars books.

So excited! Just watched Empire the other day and will put Jedi on tomorrow. Will also try to watch a few seasons of Rebels if I have time.
I'm going to avoid the prequels though, they are just really bad films (even III).
One of my biggest gripes is how they wasted Obi Wan. He was a very mysterious character from the original films and I was hoping the prequels would provide him with a back story and some character development. In Episode I he sits in a spaceship for the entire movie then gets in a light sabre battle, in II he is integral to the plot but we learn nothing about him, and in III he is a completely unnecessary character until the big CGI battle at the end.
So can we all agree to leave this thread spoiler free, or heavily marked for spoilers. I am on the verge of going dark on social media till i see the movie on Thursday at 7:00. I consider CP kinda a safe zone.
Are we all in agreement?
I agree with this too, I think a separate thread would be best, someone better get it started now and mark it spoilers.
I've been avoiding all new info since right about the time they opened the floodgates.
