The fact that Gibson was in net for that schlacking as well was probably like a kick to the gut for them and their fans. They are even luckier then we are to be in the pacific. We were supposed to contend for a playoff spot. They were supposed to contend for a cup.
Somethings gotta give there.

Hudler for Andersen straight across. An old fashioned hockey trade. Of all the teams jockeying for the bottom two division slots, Calgary and Anaheim are the best teams when they have their poop together.
Anaheim can't score. We have atrocious goaltending. Get it done, Brad.

Would a Brian Elliot or a Ben Bishop make sense for the Flames? What would it cost to pry one of those guys from the Blues / Lightning?

This is as bad as the Cammalleri for Drouin "proposal". If you're gonna speculate, at least come up with something that makes sense.

Of course it would have to happen NOW to work, maybe throw in Hanowski.
And sure he put up insane stats in 2012-13 when he won it, but its been 3 years since and put up average to slightly above average numbers. A trophy doesn't make you untouchable unless you consistently can put up brilliant numbers year after year.
But players do change and values rise and fall all the time (Like an actual Cammalleri for Drouin trade in today's NHL vs 2 years ago).
I'm not saying Hiller for Bob straight up is the way to go, but just the idea behind getting Hiller OUT, and possibly upgrading in net.

Agreed, it would have to happen now to work. Once Sergei is back in th lineup he will get 0.2 points for each save which will raise his value. Bollig may be someone you add to that trade depending on whether your league gives you points for PIM's. Can you put Sergei on the IR or does he take a roster spot? That is an important question.

Well it looks like this team might make the playoffs even with terrible goalies.
I guess the pressure is off? BT can just ride out the bad contracts.

Was it ever really about this year though? Not sure the pressure is off, we still have no idea who is going to play goal for us next year and do it well. BT needs to solve that problem and I'm not sure how long he can wait to do that.

BT needs to get one of Anderson or Bernier. Bernier getting 3 straight shutouts doesn't help getting him at a bargain, however not many are sold on him. Both teams have a three goalies right away. In Toronto, they could at least take one of Hiller or Ramo back to be the backup. Anaheim will likely not need or want either one of our goalies. Maybe they are waiting as long as they can to pull the trigger to keep under the cap. Just think one of these two will be tending the Flames net in the new year.

Cammy for Drouin actually isn't looking too bad right now lol. I imagine this is cammys final season with lightning in a bottle at a ppg though.

There is no way Andersen gets dealt within the conference.
Ducks make that deal last season and we probably beat them in the playoffs.

No of course not.
Even though its a rebuild I think the expectation is always to do better each successive year. The goalies were good enough last year, and with the additions I am pretty sure the plan was to build. They did not add those pieces only to forecast a step backwards, that is for sure.
The first 20 games of the year the goal tending was holding the team back, you can't risk the plan due to a 3 players not playing anywhere near their (admittedly modest) potential. You can't let a wound like that fester.
But now that Ramo is back to winning games and Hiller is not out-right losing the team games BT can focus on vets for asset trades. Such as Hudler.

They need to get an average number one or magic beans? That is what you are saying.
Anderson is an average starter - his biggest body of work is at about .913-ish SV% which is average.
Maybe the magic beans (Bernier) turn into something. Maybe he goes Hiller on us. Even with his AHL hot streak, you are doing the Leafs a favour by taking him and his cap contract.
Either way, talking about those two goalies should be two different conversations. You'll pay something to get Anderson, but I still think TO pays to dump Bernier.

Would be hard to push them out of the top 6.
Plus they have Guranov (their 1st pick last year), Shore (tearing up the AHL in his first full year), Dickenson (another former 1st rounder doing well).
I think if a right deal came across they would move him. Not sure what the Flames can offer maybe Russell and Wotherspoon?

A lot of scouts for an AHL game. Just saying.

Good find. Wonder how many teams were there to see Ritchie as it was his first game of the season. Wonder if any teams were there to watch the heat and if so, which of our prospects may be available

I don't think Anderson is average in my opinion. The numbers he put up to start the season with a bad team in front of him were impressive. I agree it would cost extra to trade for him in the division yes, but they need to improve on Hiller and ramo. Letting a team back into a game like last night, takes a lot of confidence away from the players. If Bernier can be had as a favor to the leafs, you take that risk. His cost is similar to ramo and less than Hiller and we lived with both of them on the roster so far this year. I don't think Toronto pays to get rid of him if we include one of ramo and Hiller as part of the return. They are older and worse goaltenders.

What about Hudler for Craig Anderson?
Anderson gets us 2 years while we wait for McDonald or Gillies

Doubt it. Hammond has only played 4 games this season, while Anderson has played 25. Don't think they are ready to cut him loose yet.

Ottawa is sunk without Anderson and they know it. Not sure why they'd do that

They don't need offence, they are the 5th highest scores in the league so far. They also aren't giving up their starting goalie considering he's played 25 of their 30 games this season. Never going to happen.

Go ahead and make a ranking of the current starters in the NHL...then come back here and tell us again how you feel he's NOT average.
