6 teams within 3 points in the Pacific. The playoff race could be crazy this season. And now we're certainly back in it.

Hard to blame the PK on the tying goal. Aren't those the shots you're supposed to let them take?

Again, if Gaudreau misses terribly, it's another Tanev moment.

Great call though.

I'm no advanced stats fan, but I'd have to agree that this is unsustainable.

That said, who gives a damn. 9 wins in a row at home, 5 wins in a row overall and a sweep of the home stand. Let's just enjoy it while it lasts.

They're winning in spite of these things - special teams can only get better.

Russell missed clearing the puck 4 times in the third, couldn't hold his man in the boards and had no pass but "bank it off the glass" a number of times. He wasn't good IMO

I watched that game. Anderson actually signaled to the bench to be pulled.

I thought that 3rd pairing was horrible tonight. Wideman was standing right where the 2nd and 3rd goals went in and the 3rd goal was going wide but hit his skate and in. Maybe time for him to finally spend a night in the press box. I'm not exactly sure why Engelland is sitting again because he's been better than both Smid and Wideman.

Talk about the game first, then get to the other stuff.

Gaudreau made that OT goal happen. He could have dumped it in and changed or tried to skate it in and possibly lose it, instead he skates behind the net and waits for fresh guys and then changes.

He was far from strong. I'd say he was the worst d man on the flames tonight. Probably gave the puck away in our zone 10-15 times.

- Thought the Flames played well until Hiller let in that second goal. Really seemed to rattle the team and they never looked quite the same. If they want to be a successful elite team they have to rally after goals like that because they are always going to happen. The won despite it though and that is a good sign.

- Smid looked very good again. I don't remember him ever being this effective but he did all things well today. Moved the puck up ice, pinched well to keep plays alive and played fairly well defensively.

- Russell did not look good tonight. There was a sequence where Hughson was raving about how excellent he is at blocking shots, all the while the Rangers had possession in the Flames zone for about a minute in a half. Not a great first game back.

- TJ Brodie and Gaudreau are the the best players on the team. If we lose either to injury you can kiss the season goodbye.

- I love 3 on 3! It opens up the game and gives both teams a chance to go for it over playing it safe.

Go Flames Go! 5 wins in a row to salvage a bad start.

To be fair Hiller was screened on the 4th goal and didn't see it. The second and third goals are on him.

Because the Sens lost to the Habs and the Sens players were garbage for most of that game in that loss. They only lost 3-1 but it could've very easily been a 6 or 7-1 loss.

My GCL feed cut out right when Friedman brought up Johnny contract. Was it a typical Sportsnet "Johnny won't sign in Calgary" piece? And should I expect the Francis companion article tomorrow?
